Hey fellas. All tires have a range of what size rim they will go on. How do you guys feel about putting a tire on the extreme minimum or maximum? For instance I’m thinking of get 18x9 rims and putting a 265/70R18 on them. The rim width range for that tire is 7-8-9. An 8” rim being in the middle. Good luck finding a 8” wide rim that is 18” round. I ask because once (only because of clearance) I put 225s on a 8.5” rim. This was on 19” wheels for my Mercedes. Anyway they looked terrible. They were stretched horribly. A 235 or 245 was perfect for that size rim looks wise. I ended up putting a 5 mm spacer on it and went with 235s. Looks awesome then. Will a 265 truck tire look stretched on a 9” rim? Thanks.

Personally I’d go to a 17” wheel. Plenty more tire and wheel choices.

I’ve spent 10 hours researching 18”. Also 17” rims are all mostly still 9” wide leaving me with the same question as above.

I’m running 17x8.5 -10 wheels. You just need to look. I will say certain manufacturers don’t have multiple widths so it may take a wheel with a different look to get better choices. I’d still go 17 so many more tires choices. That’s why I went 17s.

Nice wheel. You may need slight trimming, remove mud flaps possibly a cmc. Are ya running aftermarket UCAs?

I don’t know what UCAs are. Shocks? Im a newbie. However the truck is lifted 3 in front and 2 in back. I also don’t have mud flaps.

Upper control arms, recommended to use after market on 3"+ lifts.

What lift did you go with?

So once you get to the 2.3-3” lift mark. It’s recommended to replace the uca(upper control arm) it will help with getting the alignment into correct specs.

Most of us here are running JBA or SPC ucas. I personally have JBA.

Well I know zero about these. I do you know when I purchased my leveling kit there was one kit that had an upper control arm with it. I am almost got this kit. I’ll post the link. Meanwhile obviously that ship has sailed and I went with just a leveling kit. So here’s my question. Is this upgraded UCA really necessary or just something cool? Would you mind posting a link or two to what you recommend to purchase? Also it took my neighbor two hours to install that leveling kit. How long will it take him to install two UCA’s? Just trying to get an idea of labor cost. Thanks for all your help. Looks like I came to the right place. Also forgive my ignorance in all of this please. I’ll pick on it pretty quickly hopefully. I’m mostly a gun, watch and radar detector enthusiast type guy. If you guys have any questions about that stuff ask away. ;-)

Uca’s arent always necessary. Once you go get your alignment done you’ll know. If your alignment guy can’t get specs correct(especially caster) you will need to replace them. Some alignment guys not familiar with SPC have issue with their adjustments. JBA have a fixed amount of caster built in so from an alignment standpoint they’re super easy, plus they use a conventional ball joint which I like. Jbaoffroad.com. Spcalignment.com.

Thank you man. I actually just got the alignment done today but that’s with my stock 245/75R16s. I will get another alignment next week when my tires and wheels arrive. As of this mornings alignment they said they didn’t have any problem aligning it with the 3” lift kit. When I drove it home I didn’t notice any issues but then again when I drove it there I didn’t either.

Most manufacturers have the recommended wheel width range when you look the specs for the tire.
