I'm about to pull the trigger on a 3 inch lift but I'm currently running 265/70/R17 tires. Are they going to look small after I get the 3 inch lift done??

I had a 3 inch front, 2 inch rear lift with 265/70/17's I thought they looked ok, a little small. I recently went to 285's and I completely love how it looks now. They fit in the wheel well so nicely.

    With 265's

It will look a bit off, but hustle and get some 285/70/17's or 75'S... youre already obn a 31.5" tire... 285/70/17's are easily a 33.5" tire.. and your gearing will suffer... up to you, but i wouldnt go much bigger than 33" with a 3 inch lift, its still in CMC/BMC territory... have fun.

    Thanks man!
Yes 285/70/17. You will have to do some inner plastic trimming and depending on your wheels and alignment specs you may need a cab mount chop or you will get some tire rubbing.

I am getting a 3" lift to my tacoma and they told me at the place that is doing the work that I will most likely need to do some cutting to avoid rubbing if I want to put on 285/70/17's. I have read from some people on here that they have not had any rubbing. I'm probably going to try putting the large tires on and see if it rubs before I do anything, but I'm wondering how many people have had rubbing issues and compared to those who haven't and why?

So you think that with normal street driving it might be ok?

Depends on the angle of the entrance to wherever you're going. I have cut and trimmed the piss out of what I can, but sometimes I still rub going into a gas station at speed with a low dipped, high angle entrance. Offroad, I still rub constantly.

Got it. Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering why some people have reported no rubbing.

Cause they don't leave the pavement or they magically found that perfect tire/wheel/alignment combo. Lift height really doesn't matter when your wheel is stuffed up in the wheel well.

So basically if I want bigger tires I'm going to have to deal with rubbing? Anyone with 275/70/17's out there? Wondering how those look with a 3" lift.
