I know the combination of low weight in the rear, and the weight transfer under medium-heavy braking can make it easy to lock up the rear tires (especially on uneven Michigan roads). I never go 100% brakes unless I'm avoiding a collision. When I drove my last car I would often downshift to keep the tires from locking up

A few times now while I was stopping for a yellow light, I've noticed my tires chirping a bit.

Is this normal? How sensitive should my ABS be, should it be preventing this short lock up?
    • 5k miles on truck
    • Tires show no signs of feathering or uneven wear
    • Stock '17 OR
    • Tire pressure: 36 psi
    • Asphalt temp: unknown
    • Outside air temp: 90°F

Doesn't sound normal to me, unless your jumping on the brakes.

Oh and it's also not normal to stop at yellow lights, :bikewheelie2:

Thanks, might have it looked at

Lol yeah, its a quick yellow I always catch on my way to work :p. Cross traffic is usually speeding gravel trucks, so I'd rather not take my chances

The brakes on my 2017 ORLB are super sensitive. Its not my daily driver so every time I get in it, I have to get use to how sensitive the brakes are. I have had similar situations where I swear the rear end locked up momentarily. At my 5000 check I asked them to check the brakes. They found nothing wrong.

Don't the OR have a brake booster or something like that? Guess it's working.

I think it's for Crawl/MTS etc., I don't believe it does anything during normal driving, but I could be wrong.

OP, in a similar thread a couple weeks ago with screeching tire's around corners, that OP took a look at his tires and they were completely bald on the inside prematurely. It had to do with a bad alignment. May be worth looking at them closely. He didn't have very many miles on the truck if I remember correctly.

Edit. I see you addressed the tire comment, disregard.

What's the number in the door jamb? Start there, then do a series of chalk tests to arrive at the proper pressure for your tires/truck.

If you don't know what a chalk test is, Google is your friend.

While unlikely to impact the concern in your post (but it might) it will at least be sure you are at the right PSI.
