Tires Cupping. A Few ?'s

    That's silly, and counterproductive.
    The reality is that the two sides of the vehicle will wear at slightly different rates, the cross sides rotation is to compensate for side-to-side differences.

    The only time that you do NOT rotate side-to-side, is when you have certain tires that are designed to drive only in one direction, because switching sides will cause the tires to rotate in the wrong direction.

    Maybe it’s a MT tire thing. Hadn’t heard it until getting this truck. I always crossed the front tires to the back and moved the rear tires straight up to the front on every other car I’ve owned.

    I am not an expert by any means, but was told that turning with the road being crowned also causes cupping. With that school of thought cross rotating as well as front to back would allow the tires to cup the other side. Meaning you should at least get more mileage and potentially more even wear.

    I rotate every 5,000 religiously and go front to back. Back cross then forward. I have had pretty even tire wear for the last 2 set of tires. I also check my psi in tires every two weeks.
