Just noticed that the tires on my brand new 2014 Tacoma are feathering pretty noticeably after just 3,800 miles. The tires are the factory Bridgestone Dueler H/T. The truck steers great and no noise vibration, pulling, etc that would indicate the alignment is off. Is this normal for new tires on a new truck, or could there be an issue with the steering/suspension on my truck? The rear tires are wearing just fine.

Take it to the dealer, if they're FUBAR you can get a new set for free. If you don't want a new set, have them replaced for free anyway and then sell those to your tire house as a trade in when you replace them the next day for what you want.

FWIW I don't have that tire, but I have 22k on my stock Dunlop's and they're great. Caddmannq just had his tires replaced with the same model Dueler's as you have (they were also on his truck OEM) and he likes them.

What would be causing this on a brand new vehicle?

Thanks, but my point is: a brand new vehicle shouldn't be out of alignment after just 3,800 miles. Did the factory not get it set right, could there be defective suspension components, etc.? Looking to see if anyone out there has any insight on this.

Shouldn't be, yes. But it happens, yes. I don't know what kind of answer you want to hear? You need to take it back to your dealer and have them correct the issue.

I understand your point, but what does asking me that question accomplish? Vent yourself to the service manager, you're due a free alignment and a new set of tires (hopefully).

    Either way, good luck.

well my stock dunlops have worn off the outer edge after 15,000. My truck doesn’t seem to be out of alignment either?

My Dunlop's seem to be biting the dust now at 22100 miles. Wear pattern is great, tread depth is 4/32 and they seem to be out of balance.

insist the dealer aligns the truck for you and replace your new tires. hopefully they don't try to pull some retard shit saying it is your driving habits, if any issues options are to escalate or try another dealer.

My tundra i had before was out of alignment from new and the dealer aligned it with no charge to me and no questions asked. These trucks get knocked out of alignment while being loaded and unloaded off those car haulers. Take it to the dealer and at least have them check the alignment and possibly get you some new rubbers!

Only reason the outers would be balding is if you're cornering too fast, so I guess that could be your answer but you'd have to ask yourself that question. If not, it's probably an alignment problem.

Crazy, my Tundra was out of alignment as well from factory. Killed the front tires fast. Warranty thankfully.

How fast is fast? Idaho if I ever make a BS thread be sure to find it, I think we're related somewhere. My grandma was a whore, so it's totally possible.

I'm in. There used to be decent bs threads. Seems Beavislive turned into the mainline bs dumping ground.

My BS thread will be all encompassing gloriousness, but it'll probably only be used by like 4 people.

4200 miles on BFG ATs is pretty shitty, aren't they like 65k mile warrantied? Haven't ran them since my Chebby days, but I went through 2 sets in 135k.

My brother experienced the same deal at about 20k with the factory Dunlops. After multiple balancing jobs, the vibes were still present. Once our SR8s came out, he swapped in the new wheels and tires and the vibes were gone.
