If I want to avoid this guys plight, what tires would you recommend?

OME lift is on the way and tires are next.

I take it I want LT and not P tires. I was thinking Cooper ST Maxx 255/75/17 since they're load range C, but it's been suggested that I just go ahead and move up to a load range E tire so 265/70/17. Considering Cooper AT3 but like the more aggressive look of the ST Maxx. Do I need a load range E tire for Big Bend trails?

Everybody has an opinion as to which tire is best. If you only have one set of tires for all of your driving, I suggest an All Terrain tread. My first choice is BFG All Terrain. They have a new sidewall design that has been proven in the Bahamas 1000. That's probably over-kill (which I am in favor of).
Whatever you do, make sure your spare is as good as the other four and make sure you have the tools and ability to change tires...it's different in the dirt!
Good luck on your trip. I am envious.

    Victim of spell check?

If not, how many laps of the biggest island does it take to reach 1000? (1000 of anything).
