yea watch the speed. Think about it, if you turn, the outside tire has to travel a farther distance then the inside. Thats why open diffs are so common and now limited slip, to allow the wheel to travel a different distance without damaging your diff.

When you lock it, the wheels skip because the out side wheel want to travel farther then the inside wheel of the turn, but can't due to the inside wheel limited how much the outside wheel does turn.

Thats why Toyota only recommend you have the locker on when needed and under 5mph. Yes you can push the speed, but really, unless you need it..keep it off. No point in having it on if your just driving a dirt road and you put more stress on your drive line.

From what I understood, it says to go 5 mph or slower while engaging diff. Lock, not for the whole time you're driving. I'd assume the only thing wearing or being damaged are your tires. More specifically the one on the inside of the turn.

How exactly does the e-locker fuse the axle together?

Yes tires do take more wear if you leave it on. As do other components because the power you send through the drive line has no place to escape. Like on an open diff if you get stuck, one wheel will spin while the other does nothing because the power goes to the easiest wheel to be released. Im at work on phone now but ill post a youtube link that will help you understand lockers better.

You gotta remember that the term "locked" is key here, the wheels are locked into "zero" outside wheel spin to compensate for the added distance the outside wheel has to make up for, in a turn this chatter, tire chirpping is normal, whatever the speed...;)

    or it wouldn't be "locked"...
