Tires Rubbing Rear Fenders

    Hey put a 2.5 lift in the front and left rear suspension stock and was told this would clear putting 285/70/17 on my truck with some minor trimming.

    Did the mod with km2 285/70/17s on Addicts 17/9 with 4.5 backspacing and -12 offset.

    Trimmed the front up and it clears pretty well but on the trail at full articulation my rear tires rub the rear fenders pretty bad. What is the cheapest/ easiest way to fix this. I dont want to limit my articulation if I dont have to but dont want to have to do a hack job on the bed of my truck either.

    Any suggestions?

    add a leaf seems like your best bet, and cheap

    I've considered an add a leaf but I was not sure that it would prevent the tire from articulating all the way back up into the fender.

    I've also been considering blocking the rear 1.5" or 2" to push the axle down or putting in bigger bump stops so the axle cant go up so far. Just not sure what my best options are or if there is a better option that I have not thought of.

    Blocks will destroy your leafs. Just buy a new leaf pack. The allpro expo leafs are great.

    Ya with the holidays money is a bit tight right now so I was hoping to find a cheaper mod that would work for now. Instead of spending around 500 I was hoping for something around 100 for now.

    SAS.. Need I say more.
    No but really.. Changing leafs will not help, you will still have the same uptravel. Same with a lift or anyother shit you do. You still have the same uptravel. What you need to do is remove the fenders, or simply CUT to fit. It's that simple.

    33s isn't a great choice if you want zero rubbing in offroad situations.

    thanks ill have to try those. 1/2" shouldnt affect the driveline either right?

    I planned on having to trim the front up I just didn't expect to have the rear tires tear up the rear fenders. Everyone I talked to before hand said that they would clear no problem

    online people or folks that you wheel with who know what type of wheeling you do?

    they clear when on street, but offroading, like mentioned above, you can't avoid rub unless you go with a smaller tire that can tuck under the bedsides...

    you are running a backspace that sets your tires out by 1/4" and then aggressive width, so your tires can't tuck up under the bedsides anymore...

    if you are wheeling, you definitely want to prioritize articulation over aesthetics...

    i would say don't mess with the suspension with additional bumpstops as you will hate the loss in up travel and it will bug you when you're suspension is bottoming out sooner than you would like...

    best bet, just trim those bedsides as recommended above... it's not like you are rolling on dubs trying to impress the teenage girls at the mall...

    sooo was reading this and now im curious how is it that blocks destroy leafs ive had blocks on every truck ive owned and ive never had any problems with the leafs!! also had the leaf lift type deal on a 91 tacoma and it felt bouncy tookem off. but just curious like i said, ive got the ready lift 3 inch on the front and the blocks to go wth in the back 2010 tacoma loveee it!

    the newer the tacoma, it seems the softer the leaf springs... the blocks can lead to axle wrap which can be a subtle skip to most drivers, but for folks wheeling, it has actually led to leaf springs warping... there are some folks on TTORA who have posted pics of the damage that blocks led to...

    that being said, axle wrap to a certain degree is in the eyes of the beholder... i rode with someone once who had blocks and he said he never noticed axle wrap... in the passenger seat, i could feel his rear end hop when he would brake and then gas up, but he never did...

    but if it works for you, then it's all good...

    Ya and that was my fear of blocks too. I used to have a 90 pickup with a v6 and a 7 inch lift with 35s. when i bought it it had blocks in the rear that were terrible for causing axle wrap. felt so bad I was affraid it would break the driveline. But with that truck I just put on some trailing arms and corrected the problem.
