Read this thread when OP started it. A few days ago I was out to the Borax Hot Springs and Alvord Desert in Oregon and noticed this bluish hue on my tires. It went away after some paved road driving.

Wow! I just got some cooper st Maxxs and was scared to death they are defective. Thank you for the post! I am in central Washington, have been to the same place this happened multiple times, and never seen it before. Never had these tires before either.

I just got my truck Thursday and took it off road on Sunday. This is what I saw when I got off work...

The tires were treated at the dealership and though we don’t have red dirt (in this part of Arizona) that’s immediately what came to mind. A reaction between the tire treatment and the dirt.

Thought for a second they were just new white wall tires and just hadn’t washed the blue off.

Apparently southwest Montana dirt does the same thing! Swapping them for new tires soon anyway

Hello Wesintex. I saw your post on blue Tires. This is something I have been watching for many years. Purchased my first pick up at 17 years in 1982. On many occasions I notice the blue colour on the tires, and no it was not the paint running, the truck was black.
Summer of 1985 I worked road construction and rand a machine that had three bias ply tires and one radial. That radial would turn blue. I soon figured out that when that tire turned blue it would rain with in 24 hours. They guys laughs at me when I told them this, but through out the summer my rain predictions were 100% accurate. I have worked farming, road construction and mining and have notice that some tires turn blue. Interesting to see that some Hiway tractors and trailers get blue tires but never go off pavement.
On the road construction and mining we watered the roads to keep dust down. That did not make any difference. The tires would be black most of the time and then turn blue when rainy weather was coming.

I am now over 50 and to this day still do not have a valid explanation for what causes the tires to turn color. Personally I think it is something to do with atmospheric pressure. But I am not a scientist. So I am looking for some other people to watch and see if what I say can be possible.

This happened on our Hyundai Tucson 4WD coming from Playa Santa Teresa to Montezuma Costa Rica on the south road. Sure wish I had my 2019 Taco. Would have made the off-road much easier and fun.
on a side note: I envy the diesel Tacos I see down here. Pulling a camper up Tioga Pass. Yup, I’m the SLOW TRUCKS USE RIGHT LANE guy.

I was going to say Clay. Clay sometimes turns things blue as well.
