I totally get that big heavy tires and lifts are what kills the fuel economy and while I didn't buy my truck because it's gas sipper, it sure is nice getting 23 mpg on the 245/75/16 Dunflops during the summer months.

I'm looking at going to a 265/70/16 Michelin LTX A/T2....Slightly bigger, slightly more aggressive than a highway tire for the 1-2 times a year I do leave the pavement, well mannered enough to still be decent on the highway, and I see plenty of people getting 70k out of a set.

Anyone have any experience with these or have a ballpark on how "bad" they'll hit fuel economy? I expect a tad, since they're 5 lbs heavier than the dunflops.

My son runs those on his Silverado and there very good riding and smooth with a fairly good off road tread but his gas mileage is no so good but I contribute that the his driving style

I have had the Ltx at/2 265/70/16 (stock size for an offroad) on my truck for the last 50000 miles and they still look like they have decent tread left over. I have been very happy with them. They look good and have performed great in snow and wet conditions.

I have never been over 21 mpg, all best 60 mph. I get about the same as the original bfg that were on it when new.

    Are you a 4 banger?

if its the 4 banger i would get the Michelin at2 or Defender in the stock size p245/75/16 every extra pound being pushed by the 2.7l equals loss of power,MPGs. the AT2 is a very good all around tire and would look great and performance would be almost the same in the245/75/16 size. the small jump to the bigger( 1" wider and heavier) p265/70/16 would probably cost 1-2 mpgs .

Sadly, yes, a 4 banger. It does everything I throw at it, and has hit 24 MPG on road trips, but I do sometimes wish I hadn't been cheap.

    Could've had a steak and I bought a hotdog....

get either Michelins in the stock p245/75/16 size and keep what little power you have from the 4 banger,if you go bigger for looks it will further depress you not having the performance you once had with the stock size
