I have a 2005 Tacoma 4wd 6 spd. Time again for tires, but this time I would like to go for some a liitle more agressive than the Kelleys that are on it. How much difference does the tread pattern make as far as mileage goes. I average about 800 miles a week, but with Turkey season coming in a couple months and a new lease with a lot more mud, I think I need some tread.

Tire guys wil tell you, mileage isn't affected, but I think it does..... My hummer was getting 12 mpg then I put bigger and aggressive nitro terra grapplers on it and it went to 9 mpg
You have to choose your medicine, be happy commuting or be happy hunting?
    Cheers

If you match tire size and ply, your milage won't be affected much. Change to a wider, larger diameter, or thicker ply tire, and your milage will go down.
I have a set of Firestone A/T's load range C(IIRC). Lost 1mpg. I'm going with Cooper S/T Maxx for my next set, shortly. The Firestones made it to 50k, but aren't very aggressive. I don't do enough off roading to justify the Cooper STTs, so I'll settle for the MAXX.

its an all terrain so it wont kill your tread on pavement or your MPG and IMO they're just as good if not better than most mud terrains out there. cant beat it.

I've been using BF Goodrich All Terrians for the last 5 vehicles I've owned (15 years). Always done me right. I drive back roads, dirt roads, with minimal highway miles. A little loud compared to others, but for an all- in- one tire, I think it's the best.
