    Looking at getting new tires,
I now have Cooper Discoverers, I wanted to compare the Cooper's with the General Grabbers
I am sticking with the 16 inches tires. I live in Massachusetts and drive a lot on the highway
    Any suggestions
    Thanks
    Barry

I have the Cooper ST/MAXX and love them, I do about 60% city and 40% highway and still get 16.5 MPG with the E Rated tires. I have read that the Grabbers are shitty in the snow on TireRack. These Cooper ST/MAXX tires are killer brother, and I am also in Mass

Grabbers are just a cheap copy of the BFG TKO and the BFG are junk to start with. Loud on the highway and poor traction after about a years use.

I've had BFG TA/KO's, General Grabber AT2's, and I'm now running Duratrac's. I only have about 10k miles on the Duratrac's, but so far I think they're the best tires I've run. I live in northern Minnesota so I wanted an all-terrain that performed well in snow. I've been very impressed with these tires this winter. They are a little loud, but with the radio on I don't hear them. I only notice it if I'm driving with the radio and fan off, which I don't do.

Are the Coopers not doing what you need? Thats probably the best highway oriented AT you can get. If you want something more agressive but don't want to destroy your milage, I'd go for Nitto Terra Grapplers or Falken Wildpeak AT3W's.

I didn't see where the OP was from but the NittoTerra Grapplers are terrible tires in the snow. Good tires but they just don't perform in the white stuff.

Funny I have had mine over a year and have not "lost traction" yet o_O
And actually my ONLY complaint with general grabber at2's is how stupid quiet they are. I wanted some howling.
Just funny how a real world review compares to..:burp:

I'm not Tryin to be a dick. Just can't see these comments being real world experience since I own two sets.

I had the Coopers on a 3/4 ton work truck, they were pretty good in the snow, but they eventually cupped and feathered and I am not entirely convinced it was my alignment that was solely responsible for it. I was never really all that impressed with them for the price.

I have the Grabber AT2's on my Taco and I am enjoying them so far. I have put about 11,000 miles on them with no noticeable wear. My only two complaints are: they are tough to balance (they require a lot of weight), and they pick up a LOT of small rocks and kick them down the side of my truck when I reach highway speed. They have done a number on the paint on my rocker panels as a result. I really liked the price though. I was able to get them for a little over $600 installed (265-70X16 P-rated).

I have been running Goodyear wrangler at's for about 8 years on 2 different tacos and have had zero issues in mud sand and snow driving on the beaches in nc through snow storms in pa, me and nyc and mud In va and tn and nc. With proper rotation and inflation I average about 20 mpgs and there not overly loud either
