Nice AT tire but for a pavement pounder as he describes? Nah.

OP, Michelins should be on your shopping list.

For all pavement driving definitely look into the Michelin LTX Defenders. These are the modern LTX M/S 2 which was an amazing highway tire for light trucks.

My last 2 sets of tires were Cooper Discover AT3's, and I loved them, but they were kind of loud on the pavement.

If you are primarily city/highway, I would definitely go with a good set of Michelins; hands down the BEST!

I ended up buying a set of Toyo Open Country 265/70R16's, and "kind of" wish I'd had gone with the Michelins because of the added noise on the highway @ 70-75mph, but I sure do like them when I get in the mud!

I'll give another vote for the Michelins. The LTX M/S 2 is a great city/highway tire that wears very well and is quiet and good in the rain. Also keep in mind that if it's only a few bad reviews per 100, odds are someone is going to be unhappy with something and feel the need to complain about it, so don't weigh that super heavily unless there are a lot of bad reviews.

If you look long enough every tire will have some one complain about it

I have been running off brand tires in new tires the last 40 years.

Now since most tires are made in China

Where would you be buying your tires most places have a house brand find a tread pattern you like and go for it.

I would be buying from Firestone . That's the major tire shop around where I live . There is also small places though . IE tire country and Silance

No question about that. I had them for the first 317k miles - each set last me over 80-100k miles with Cadillac like comfort. I took them to Death Valley easy trails like Titus Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon and Echo Canyon. They did great there too.

Yeah... super exciting I found out that Michelin did the DEFENDER option for our size, that will be my choice because I'm 99% highway for long trips , smooth rides is what I look for, as you mention , Comfort 1st

I don't need tires now, truck came from dealer with these heavy, badass looking tires , Keller Safari off road LOAD E,\ Goodyear company and ironically I don't go off road, but I bet the time I change them to street tires around year 2020 ( Michelin ) , then bam ! I will get the chance to go off road then o_O ,:annoyed:
