I bought the Wildpeaks and am happy with them. Quiet enough on the road, good in snow.

Hey, the poster is being honest. Kudos for that. While I'm totally a form follows function guy, and run P rated mild tread all seasons on one set of rims most of the time, and have three peak LT aggressive tread tires on another set of wheels for snow and off pavement pursuits, I would hazard 70% of tire purchases for Tacomas are made to make it look "tough".
I sold my 3 peak KO's on rims with TPMS and lots of tread for next to nothing as they were noisy, killed my fuel economy, and were no good in the snow.
For the record, I'm now running Bridgestone Destination X/T's in LT215/85R16. Traction is incredible in all conditions, and they weigh the same as bigger P-rated tires. The low weight does come at the expense of ultimate toughness, as the KO's had 5 tread plies/3 sidewall plies, and were tough as nails. I'm not rock crawling, so didn't need the extra 18 lbs per tire.

Wildpeaks are better in snow. I’ve had both.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Kinda wish I knew. Had a custom paint job done on it and then got sideswiped before I could even put all of the trim back on. Ultimately traded it in against a '72 Monte Carlo (best Chevy I ever owned). It was a different era back then.
