Check out the Bud Built Rock Rail (mash me). I was originally looking at these TJMs but I think I'll got with the Rock Rails now.

Those don’t look like they would stick out far enough to protect from side impacts.

They aren't designed for that. From the description:
"When navigating the backcountry, a good amount of drivers are not worries about sliding into a tree or tackling 2' boulders. Where the real issue is, is simply bottoming out the Tacoma due to the long wheelbase."

Bottoming out is my main concern, not sliding into something. I'm not planning to rock climb but I do plan to do some exploring and camping. I just want some underside protection in that area.

Not sure where you’re planning on exploring or camping so it may not matter. But for me, I’ve had much closer calls with trees, stumps and car doors than bottoming out. Seems like insufficient protection. Probably why everyone else’s sliders stick out just a little further.

They have those sliders available as well (as do tons of other vendors). Just a different tool in the tool box. Sounds like we use our trucks differently that's all. I strategically park and walk because I don't want someone next to me. For the more serious trails I'm in a side by side that's built for that environment. I'm not taking a brand new truck where I go in a side by side...

@hungoverland on IG, King 2.5" EXT Travel w/ Archive Garage shock relocation, Icon RXT leafpack, 285 Nitto M/T's, bronze Raceline Defender wheels, TJM front/rear bumpers, TJM Sliders, Prinsu Cabrac, Katzkin leather, RSI Smartcap EVO topper, OV Tuned, MESO everything, Spyder headlights and tail lights, center mounted infant restraining system (CMIRS) \m/
I have had these TJM sliders on my truck for a couple years now, they were the first set TJM made for their SEMA build in 2016. These things are burly, but as mentioned before, they are not a step/running board style slider. I believe they are the 15 degree style (been a minute since I bought them), and I had to source all my own mounting hardware from Ace with all grade 8 hardware. It wasn’t easy to do solo, but I did it and it felt like I had been bench pressing all day. These are much more sleek than most sliders you see, but I am confident they have given me the protection and peace of mind while I am on the dirt— granted I don’t really climb boulders and there aren’t many trees in Baja or So Cal. Since mine were white powder coated when I bought them, I had them coated with truck liner (I think Linex), and I think it makes them look even better and won’t be hard to touch up when they get banged up. I liked the sliders enough that I went with TJM for both my bumpers as well.

If you noticed the drop within the last couple months... winter gas is probably why. Maybe ever so slightly from the extra weight.
