ok so im about to order the gabriel strut cartridges to replace the trailmasters..... i just want to make sure im replacing the correct thing...
as we have all heard... the tm strutts are junk and can blow out within an hour of installation...
i have read on other forums that there suspension has a loud "clunk" when extended or what ever...

the problem with my suspension is that it has a very loud deep creaking sound...
and if i put weight on the front, my suspension will go down and stick... same as when i pull up on the suspension it will raise and stick....

sometimes i will be sitting at a stoplight with the clutch in and foot off of the brake pedal just sitting waiting for the light to change and all of the sudden the front of my truck will pop up a couple inches....
the truck has a unforgiving ride to it... very rough and stiff...

does this sound like a secondary strut problem to you or does it sound like a coilover shock problem??? i guess either way i am going to do the gabriel conversion as well as the bilstien5100's on the rear.... i just wonder if front shocks need replaced????
any information or experiences you may have would be appreciated...

    thanks
    -david

Sounds like the springs are worn.

do you mean the coils themselves? could this just be caused by the struts or shocks being almost seised???

Those look like the Original OEM shocks and springs. Replace them, and you should enjoy a WORLD of difference.:)

being as your springs AND shocks are shot....Im thinking OME 881's for the springs, and some Bilstien 5100's all around for the shocks. ;)

Not silly questions at all. 10" for the rear sounds about right. For the front, you just need teh OEM replacements, as the TM lift has a big spacer for the front lift. When you get them, and the OME springs, keep the shocks on the lowest level, as the OME springs will give a bit of lift.

You should be able to do it your self. When you get the new parts, just take them to a shop, and have them put the shocks/ springs together for ya. Then, just bolt them in. Should only cost about $20.00 or so per side.

i did this after having similar probs with my oem tm kit...replaced the front w/ rancho shox(shoulda done billies, but i got the ajustables and they feel great), OME 882's and gabriel inversion mod done up front...in the rear i had new mounts installed at 30 degrees and used the rancho adjustable 14" shocks...sooooo much better now
