Looks like the Toyota new global architecture body-on-frame (TNGA-F) is here and in full production.

All the body-on-frame vehicles are going to be replaced in the next 2-3 years including Tacoma.

There was a poster who seemed to have some inside knowledge, and it looks like everything he said was right.

Some speculations that seem to now be fact.

—The TNGA-F is not compatible with a v8.
    — six lug tundra
    — TNGA-F vehicles were in production as early as late 2019.

    Some other interesting hints.

there seems to be a GR landcruiser.

does this mean GR will replace TRD?

Overall it seems the days of Toyota’s archaic but trusted and reliable body-on-frame vehicles are gone. It’s all going turbo charged or hybrid vehicles from now on.

There is a guy on YouTube who has been documenting his day-to-day life with a LS500. The turbo V6 is already burning coolant to where the reservoir is empty after 3-4 weeks.

I expect this rollout, especially Tundra, to have a huge hiccups.

Internal combustion engines are going to be dinosaurs in the near future. Toyota's obviously gearing up.

Toyota/Lexus V8s are going to up in value. Grab one if you can.

The IS500 is definitely a celebration and send-off for the engine platform that started Lexus.

2021 is the last year of the land cruiser in the US. If you can afford one, it may be a good investment.

That’s why I snagged up a newer GX460 while prices were still low last year.

They should just make the whole vehicle that grill, it's already most of the front end. People would still pay $90k for a grill on wheels.

I don't think it is a TNGA unibody design. Look at this photo.

Not quite sure I understand the fear here. Global platforms are not a new concept. Upgrading a global platform doesn't necessarily mean that it's completely scrapping a BOF for a unibody. Also, a turbo 6 in a full size isn't a new concept either.

    I hear you.

however, how many turbo v6s has Toyota sold vs. Ford or BMW?

The LS500 is the only model that has this engine in North America. They sell very few LS500 vehicles, and the ones that do aren’t getting the abuse that a tundra/land cruiser would.

can a v6 turbo land cruiser last 25 years like the I6 and V8s have?

can a v6 turbo go to 1 million miles on OEM parts like a the 4.7 V8s has with multiple examples?

It’s a big change for Toyota, and I think they are going to lose fans because of it.

if the Tacoma only came with a Turbo 4cyc, would Toyota loyalists be happy with something like that?
