Just got a brand new 2X4 Tacoma V6 and I didn't consider the towing option when I got it. That was just a week ago.
I now realize that I may need to pull my show car around which weights around 4000lb, so I sure need to in install the towing option.
Should I go back to the dealer and have them install it? Is around $650 if I recall well. Can I get it cheaper?
Are there cheaper options that can install everything the same? If I have a third party do it, would that void the warranty? I think it will...

I appreciate all the help guys.....

I am interested in what you find out. I think it would probably cost more then the $650 option that we missed out on.

The max towing weight is 5000lbs without the towing package, so you're getting close to the max. I'd get it just to be safe. ;) With the towing package, you're clear up to 6500lbs, so that's a good increase, or safety blanket to have.

So the towing package comprises of this: 130-amp alternator, heavy-duty battery, transmission oil cooler, and a Class IV hitch with seven-pin connector.

You're telling me I don't need any of this if I plan to tow 5000lbs or less? That will be awesome, since I just pull my show car around once in a while. I just need to use a light trailer under 1000lbs and I am set.

I am sure I still have to install some kind of good hitch right? I should bumper tow, right?

    Thanks much for guidance....
