Another option is a SUV style tent/enclosure to give you the additional length of the tailgate. I can lay down diagonally in my SB (barely), but figured I would get a SUV style tent for the extra room/storage area, when needed. http://www.autoanything.com/truck-tents/rightline-gear-universal-tents

The price difference between the CX and Leer 100XR was pretty small; BUT the one trade off is that the vented windoors are only available on the LEER (can't get vented windoors on short bed CX).

As far as the CX/LEER, I went with the CX (standard) due to liking that style a little more (personal preference, nothing functional). Really wish I could have the vented windoors though.

I got a price quote on the ARE CX HD this morning....$2937 installed. I like the Leer price better 100XR for $1600 installed, vented windows, tilt in front window(for cleaning)...but I'm not sure about the roof weight capacity. I would like the option of doing a roof top tent, but the cap needs to be able to support the weight.

I never liked caps, but for these critters I felt it was the lesser of all evils. Now that I have one, I seriously enjoy the versatility outside of pet ownership. I'll never take it off, well ... unless I need to reseal or something. Leaks for me are quite minor. I recently developed a drip in the front corner, but it just trickles down the side of the bed and under the bed mat.

Hey, thanks! Any recommendations on installing the second one (ultimate tailgate seal)? Pics? Thanks again!

Seriously beg to differ, I use my MX cap just as it is supposed to be used. It’s really a decision based on cosmetics, not functionality.

Will the rear cab rail fit with the bed rug installed? Looks like there might be room for it. Just wanted to make sure.

Working on it, dissent offroad racks, shift sense pro, pedal commander , ARB twin, rigid SS dually's , dual batteries, ARB fridge , 2.5 Fox coil overs wResi , 2.5 Fox rears w resi Total chaos UCA , deaver packs , Nitto trail grappler's 33" .
Actually thinking about selling my bedrack, Roofrack and Rtt and doing a shell with rack on top for kayaks !
Then I could sleep in rear as I'm usually like 95% solo with Tacoma .
Maybe keep the Rtt ? Or no shell and a cool teardrop :)!?
I can see this costing more everytime I try to think it through .

It will fit with the bed rug but I believe the cap’s lip comes down enough to cover that area. I really haven’t tried so I can’t give you a difinitive answer.

What did you use to line your camper top with? I’m looking to do this to my camper shell but don’t know where to start!

The one thing a soft topper doesn't get you is security. Not that the back door on a hard topper isn't easy to break but it's way easier to slice open a soft topper for some jackass to liberate your expensive fridge and Hi-Lift.

True. I had a drawer system in place for a year and never had a single issue.

Sharp looking cap. If I was to get a cap this is pretty much exactly what I'd want. Offers utility without looking like a city utility vehicle.
