    So I recently purchased a cap for my 4 door, found it used for a good price, and I don't think it looks half bad being black with the impulse red color. I was thinking about plasti-dipping my rims black as well since they have quite a bit of corrosion on them. What do you guys think? I haven't been able to find good pictures of the stock rims dipped, so if any of you have pictures feel free to post them here and comment with opinions. 20170407_161714.jpg

    I wasn't sure how they would look. Dunno if people paint the center caps as well

    None so far.
    I've used plasti-dip and it looks ok for about a month then it starts peeling and fading. I used the spray on and I'm no expert at painting so it could be how I applied it. I did try Hydro dipping and so far seems to be holding up for my center cap.

    Wish it was that easy to peel off. It peels off in itty bitty pieces. Ended up using GooGone to get it all off.

    I would dip it, see if you like it, then paint it if you dig it. if not try a different dip. Putting multiple coats of dip on it makes it easier to take off, but that would in turn cost more.
    Have at it! Either way i'm sure it will look nice.

    Use wheel paint on the wheels, Plasti dip peels easily and it'll come off the wheels right quick. I painted my wheels black using proper wheel paint and I still have to touch it up from time to time.

    I plasti-dipped my bumpers and it requires touch up here and there often, I imagine on the wheels it'd be even worse. I do quite a bit of off-roading though which I'm sure doesn't help lol.

    WD-40 + power washer is said to improve this process. I can vouch for the WD-40, but I didn't use a power washer.

    I only use it for mock up purposes to see if I'm going to like the look of something enough to paint it. I wouldn't keep plasti dipping the same thing - waste of time and money. Any paint will work with the proper prep work. Any paint will chip with rock rash - doesn't matter how strong it is with the forces exerted on it. Just clear coat whatever you paint so it washes off easier and doesn't fade as fast.

    this was after a couple months. I had about 4-5 total coats on them (1st light, 2-3 medium, and 1 medium/heavy). never had an issue even going through car washes with the wheel scrubbers.

    trick is to get it in the nooks and crannies and on the outside of the rim/bead area so it curls around and sticks. don't worry about over-spray on the tires, it literally works itself off and leaves a clean line

    You didn't apply it thick enough. And I don't mean "all in one coat" thick, more multiple passes.

    My truck has been dipped for 2 years now. Go look at my build thread.

    Stickers, plastidip, and light bar.
    Those pics of the painted wheel trucks look great. I would just bite the bullet and powdercoat.

    Da dip... old school :anonymous::rofl:

    and pressure washer works great at dip removal (the one time I tried anyway.) I'll be trying it again on my current wheels soon and that dip has been on there over 5 years... Will see how that goes. But dip is a quick visual beyond photo-chop. Upgrading to paint or powder coat will be better long term. although it is quick and easy to spray a touch up coat on there. But do caps as well if you do. would look off if they stayed silver.
