I saw a lot of 2nd gens with satoshi grills and notices how they are kinda deep inside or behind the grill so i decided to make one. but should I keep it the way it is now or put some hella's in fron of the grill?

Do it and leave the blues. If you don't like the combo after then remove them. If it's a lack of wiring problem do it and remove the blues. MO

No ... Mesh grille mods have been done on Tacos for years.

The 'original' / 'real' Satoshi Mod (mesh grille + old school 'TOYOTA' emblem) has been done for years on Tacomas, dating back before 2005. It originated on 4Runners. It was named for the Japanese guy who first came up with it.

im going to get rid of those plastic things on the sides of the grills next to the head lights and put mesh there also. i was thinking of looking for fogs to hide behind there also maybe some autozone fogs or kragen

I have a set of Hella fogs and drving lights, they fit damn near perfect. They weren't exactly cheap, but you can find deals on Ebay.

The 'triangles' are not a good place for either driving or fog lamps. Mounting is tricky, the contours of the grille surround would block much of the beam on the sides, and the irregular shape would block some of the 'forward' beam on all but small(er) lamps. That location is also 'way too high for effective fog lamps.

Are you wanting *fog* lamps (low, wide beam for fog / rain) or *driving* lamps (high, long beam for long-range visibility)?

Have you considered mounting lamps behind the mesh grille? Fitment is tricky, because you'd be limited to 'thinner' lamps (which usually tend to be the more expensive ones).

Thanks, they work really well. A bit of a struggle to get installed, but well worth it. The only real problem is that in PA, lights have to be a certain distance apart for inspection and mine are too close. So, I have to either remove them for inspection or use a friendly mechanic.

A lot depends on which type / shape / price range you're wanting.

Over the years I've noticed the single most commonly praised lamps are the Hella 500's. Big enough to make a difference; good quality; priced low enough that you won't go bankrupt replacing one if it gets broken; and good reliability (at least from the reports I've seen).

... But then again - the big question is whether you want almost 7" diameter lamps.

I had to pull the lower valance off and mount to the bumper bar behind it. Took some time, but worked well. I used nutserts into the bar and just bolted them down. Go to A Toyota dealership and get fog light switches from a similar year Camry, they pop right into the holes on the console, looks factory.

The fine folks at the dealership refused to inspect my truck because the lights had to be 20 inches (I think) apart. They wouldn't even let me disconnect them, they had to be removed. Needless to say that was the last time they inspected my truck. My current mechanic is much more forgiving.
