Found this thread a long time ago on doing a front end conversion (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2012-tacoma-front-end-conversion-rg11.293318/). I've seen a few other folks do it as well and the results have been good. For me, I think the headlights in particular look much better on the 12-15 models rather than the 05-11. But, it is a sizeable amount of money to throw at it since it involves replacing a number of piece.

But I was curious on what others in the forum thought of it. Is it worth doing? What do you tend to prefer?

Since you have an '11, you already have the best looking grill. My opinion is that the '12-'15s don't look any better. They just look different. That's just my opinion though.

I haven't done it yet but im planning on to. I want to do a whole color change so I want to do all that around the same time. I feel they look a bit more aggressive up front

That honeycomb grill is cool. If anything spend the money on nice set retrofits give your front end nice pop

Would be one of the last mods I would do, after suspension, wheel tires, lockers, radio, lights ect....

I would build my truck and than think about it...

In some ways I like the new front end better. Does look better with a bumper...

If you were getting fiberglass fenders and a bumper than it could make sense to change at the same time...

That is very true. It really is a cosmetic change only. I do agree that the bumper looks a little better as do the lights.

Hadn't thought about that, but I figured I would get a custom grill anyway. Definitely worth weighing in though!

A whole color swap would be pricey, maybe less so if you went for a wrap (but that has its own issues). I agree, the front end looks a little more aggressive than the rounded 05-11 model years.

Go over to the 3rd Gen section. Look at those grills for a while. Go outside and look at your truck again. Guaranteed, you’ll feel better about it. Repeat as necessary. Free.
