Use the hand brake or the clutch start cancel.

Thought about the hand brake, I’ve been wanting to disconnect the switch for it so it doesn’t realize it’s on. It’s locked up on me before doing that.

Clutch start cancel works great if you’re starting it, doesn’t do anything if it’s already running.

Make a handle throttle lever set up like what I used in all of my old jeep rock crawlers

    What you need ...

    Bicycle hand brake lever

Brake cable ( long enough to reach from shifter to Throttle body)

    Assortment of zip ties

Package of Blue soldered electrical ring terminals (14-18 awg)

    Installation instructions ...

    1) Mount hand brake lever at top of shifter handle so when your hand is on the shifter knob you can easily grab the brake handle easily

2 ) using large zip ties secure brake handle to the shift stick

    3) run brake cable from hand brake to Throttle body linkage and cut to length

    4) attach / terminate blue soldered ring terminal to brake cable and attach to Throttle linkage

    5) test hand Throttle for proper operation and secure cable ever foot or so with zip ties

    It's that easy !!!

Now you can use this hand Throttle for technical sections of a trail to control the Throttle and use your feet to operate the clutch and brake

Ya. I guess you are supposed to stop the engine prior to using it? I’ve never gotten into a habit of using it. I use the hand brake it situations where rolling backwards is dangerous.

I'd love to have front and rear lockers someday, so much easier to crawl along a trail and not have to worry about carrying momentum in some areas.

I’m skeptical using the clutch start cancel while loaded on a steep hill etc. I feel like it’ll kill the starter or roast the fly wheel spline or something?? I definitely use my parking brake all the time. I have been in sticky situations while being stopped where just holding the rears with the parking brake after letting off the foot brake barely holds the truck enough. This is where having a line lock or a hand brake that holds all 4 wheels would be beneficial.

The hand throttle on these drive by wire trucks would be a bit trickier I reckon!
