You have the most reliable 4x4 TRUCK on the road. You don't buy a truck for mpg. PLEASE stop complaining about mpg. It's a worn out topic.

It would be sick if i got 25 or 30mpg, but i don’t expect anything more than 20MPG out of a truck.

 

If only you were closer I would prove it I get 269 miles to a tank and my tank is 14 gallons do the math smart one.

 

I'll take your word on it, but I feel like you're in the upper range of people there...

 

Not really the 2wd 22r trucks got like 32 mpg highway and the 4x4 got 24 mpg stock to I am in about the right ball park for the mods I have done to the 82' its all about gearing and my speedo is right on the money, plus 82' 22r's only produce 91 hp stock mine is right about 110hp it sips the gas unless I am 4wheelin but I can't do 75 on the highway i can only go about 65 and thats it.

 

Is your odometer/spedometer calibrated for the larger tires and bigger gears?

I have 33" and 4.88 gears whitch puts the gearing in the stock range plus there is no way to calibrate a speedo on an 82' it's a cable speedo.

 

I thought there was some cog thing with different amounts of teeth you can swap out in the transfer case? Maybe I'm thinking an older Bronco

Yeah there is no way to adjust/replace the speedo gear in a R1FA transfercase and that pic was takin on storm mountain only 20min ride from my house and my fam has 35 acres in red feather.

 

Drafted the toy hauler all the way to Glamis and back! I usually get 13mpg and i even had my truck loaded up with gear, gas cans, and tons of other crap. thought i would be getting around 10mpg.... but i averaged 25mpg!!!! v6 3.4L with 32 in tires

 

Wow I am lucky if I get 200miles to a tank in my 2000 tacoma 4x4 2.7

 

yeah, this winter mine MPG has sucked. but i think this last tank(i been sick with a stomach bug for 4 days now so i have not gone any where) but i don’t think it was winter gas. on my trip from western NY to home i got 200 on a tank. i had 2 people and was loaded up with a quite a bit of stuff, back seat full and the bed of truck was full. had to get gas 3 or 4 times on a 655 mile trip. made the trip back in August of ’11 and started out with full tank and stopped for gas one time, but was not loaded down with much.

(i have 4x4, and 4.0V6. i have 50k on it now. so i need spark plugs and could clean TB and all that good stuff and probably get a good 18 to 20MPG agin no problem.

 

What I think is hilarious is the guys who make posts or threads about their shitty MPG and in their signature their truck has a 3" lift with Mud terrain tires and an off road bumper with no less than three 7" spot lamps lol...

 

If you have lift and heavier tires of course your mpg will suck its simple math the more weight you put on the vehicle the worse mpg you get

I am happy with the 17-21mpg I get with my Taco. And that is with a 3" lift, 31" BFG KM2's, ARB bumper, winch, heavy skids and a topper (shell) on my truck. The best mpg I have had out of all my trucks that I have owned:
1992 Mazda B2600i 4x4 extended cab
2000 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Extended cab with 4.8L V8
2003 Toyota Tundra TRD 4x4 extra cab
2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab 4x4 with 6.6L Duramax

The duramax gets close to the same highway mpg as the taco, but around town it is a few mpg less.

 

I just bought my truck in December and don't drive it every day. More like once a week at most so I haven't had to fill it up a lot. It seems like I get around 18-21 mpg which I fully expected. My civic get's 35 going back and forth to work. My bicycle get's about 1 burrito per 20 miles...which is my round trip commute to work, so about 1 burrito per day. I ride to work about 2-3 days a week. I'm thinking I should combine all three and see what my average all around is.
I just need to convert burritos to gasoline. I'd guess I go through about 4 gallons of gas a week on average plus about 3 burritos.

 

I dont havce any lift and never haul anything and have tires inflated correct and have all maintanence done and still get shit milage. Oh well if it was not gas I would find some other damn thing to waste my fucking money on anyways haha

 

im at 11mpg on 35's with 3.73's
