That's the dumbest thing Ive ever heard it's the same thing lol. The Mustang and Cobra look alike from the exterior minus the front facia, just like a Mustang and Cobra same body different front bumper. Same interiors, different engine combinations, just like a Hilux and a Tacoma. A Tacoma is not a Hilux. Plain and simple not matter how you want to spin it.

    Resurrecting this thread.

I have "Hilux Surf" & "Hilux" badges that I pulled from a Queensland salvage yard during a trip to Australia years ago.

Was considering putting one of them on the tailgate in place of the "Tacoma" badge? The diesel conversion is from a Hilux Surf half-cut, so technically the truck is kind of Hilux-y...

    Thoughts?

Get a "-Y" piece made so you can add it to the Hilux badges, "Hilux-y" like you said :D

    What a fantastic idea!

I wonder if I could steal the "y" off a Toyota Yaris badge...

Kinda funny since most of us Hilux guys remove and bin the badges along with the giant Toyota sticker on the rear tailgate.

Debadging is definitely a thing here, too.

Right now my tailgate has a "V6" badge on it though, which needs to come off either way since it's not accurate.

I've always wanted to put a "Hybrid Synergy Drive" badge from a Prius somewhere on the truck though, just for shits and giggles.

Gas Tacomas are literally retarded. No, really- a 1st Gen gasser is slower than my diesel.
