For a few seconds I thought you had an R and I was going to have a word with you then …

depends on what you want. A worry free ride or a fun one. Both are fun in their own way

I completely understand how you feel. I’ve traded in & out of multiple Tacomas and Civics over the years (see photos below). It was a constant balancing act of wanting something practical for hauling, towing, tailgating, etc. and desire for something engaging, sporty, and fuel efficient.

Ultimately, I finally determined I missed having a truck more than I missed having a sport compact. For me, the ability to pick up furniture, haul trash/other items, tow my utility trailer/golf cart/ATV/dirt bike, tailgating, etc. weighed more. I enjoyed all of my Civics and look forward to owning one as a second vehicle in the future.

Hahaha that’s great! The new civic is pretty great from a power/torque perspective with the bigger engine, that si you had is hard to get, resale is surprisingly high, had a buddy sell his about a year and a half after buying it and got about what he paid for it. Glad you got your mind made up… for now!

Personally, I keep the Civic, and trade in the 4Runner for the Tacoma, but you didn't list that as an option.

Yes, the ‘22 Si was super difficult to find. I actually purchased it Honda Certified Pre-Owned. Next, I’m looking to test drive a FL5 Civic Type R as well as the Integra Type S just to compare the two. Just haven’t seen many on dealer lots. Honda’s inventory has been horrendous since the pandemic.

Not to be rude but, dude that sedan is overpriced garbage lol. You could buy SUV for price that Civic costs. Its no sports car ( even though people brag about it like it is ) its no Benz or luxury sedan. I would even trade it in Camry, RAV4.

MPG wise Tacoma does get better MPG than 4runner, but 4runner is more family friendly, more capacity inside and is an SUV.

If you need economical then :

RAV4 hybrid might also be good option, its a small SUV, beats sedan and gets really good MPG.

If you do have the money, Tacoma/4runner are both good choices, and yes Tacoma is dropping V6 this year. Just make sure to take care of frame if you live in rust belt, fluid film it and all.

No, is not cheap but what quality car is in 2024? The hatchback is a reasonable size isn’t really that much smaller than the rav4. Having driven both a Camry and rav4 recently during work trips, I’ll stick with my civic. The new civic is great, you’re right, you are not ever going to confuse it with a sports car but it’s fun and snappy and, most importantly, it comes in a manual. The manual gearbox feels great and the car has much better fit and finish than the older Honda’s I’ve driven. I’m not shopping for a different car/suv, if I wanted a drive with no personality I’d buy a rav of Camry, I’m working on finding the right used Tacoma for utility to pair with the fun commuter civic instead
