I am in the "leave it alone" camp, but I don't dick around with my vehicles when they are still under warranty. Also, my 2019 drives like I expect a box on wheels pickup truck to drive; was never expecting this thing to drive like a Miata.

I have a 2018 6MT pro and OV Tune 2.0 93 perf made a huge difference in drivability and rev hang for the manuals. Much more peppy and fluid. I have debated trying the KDMax tune but of the reviews I haven't seen many that went from OVTune to that so its hard to get a feel for added value to basically double pay for it. Either way you can't go wrong and both are a significant improvement over stock.

Tune is undetected by the dealership. When they plug in the OBD, all it will
say is your stock ECU is.

But I agree, my truck drove fine on the stock tune. Tune just makes it much more fun and really wakes up this 3.5.

This really makes me want to get a tune when the warranty is up. What are the downsides?

Once you put on several hundred pounds of armor and bigger tires everything changes. That's what happened to me after finding this place. Now I'm doing tunes and making third brake lights. Some days I think I'm taking crazy pills

To second this… @TermLimits is also working out the kinks on the MT’s. His should be released soon. He’s got a really solid tune that Mat has checked out.

Biggest downside is you’ll wish you did it sooner. The last 85k miles have been much more enjoyable than the first 30k

Just got KDMax on my '19 OR manual. If you want a bit more pep in your truck (and who doesn't?), do it! Much improved.

I can't compare with other tunes. And, I don't have enough time with it to comment on MPGs. But, anything over 15-16 would be awesome..

    Howdy all,

I don’t understand the issues with power and need for tunes. Unless it is a 4wd thing. I have a 2wd, which is clearly better, and it is fast as heck. Even with my 90 lb wheels and tires. Buy a corvette if you want fast.

Just the other day I blew right by a mustang no problem. I do have a CAI and exhaust. (Also the mustang was parked )

If you drove a tuned MT taco, you wouldnt’ve said what you said, we both know that.

I am unable to read it with vF. So I think Mat has a lot of work to do before we see these accessible in vF.

Yea the read of a 4R doesn't work through OBD he said. They need to manually plug into the ECU and pull the info that way. Probably why we only have 4 ECU IDs right now, need to donate a few of them to the cause or find a "cheap" one at at junkyard.

    35E50 doesn't have a file in VF yet. We have 35F30, 35F51, 35781, 35801.

I can't find any TSBs for the 4R either. Our 2018 Limited runs F51, recently got it so maybe there is a CUW for them or Toyota treats it like the Taco and makes it different each year
