Basically this. I'm in the "obsessing over every detail" stage of planning to buy a 3rd gen. I'm at the point where I'm having an internal struggle between DC and AC, and one of the the factors is the availability of the moon roof. Those who have one, was it important that you have it? Do you use it? Is it large enough to actually open up the cabin? The one in my civic always felt too small to even matter.

I have my screen pulled back most of the time. It makes the cab feel a lot more open. I had a moon roof in my first Jeep G Cherokee, 2nd G Cherokee no moon.. I did miss it. Glad to have it back and be a toyota owner ;)

That and a manual was a fundamental requirement for me!

Historically I hate moonroofs. I have specifically avoided certain trims to make sure I didn't get one. Now that said, I have one in my tacoma and I find myself using it constantly in the warmer weather. If you crack it up, then crack the rear/bed window just a little you get a really nice airflow through the cabin with way less noise than an open side window. It also like someone else said, makes things feel bigger, even though it lowers the roof line. My 6'6 cousin has sat in mine and been fine though.

Oh, and they are nice enough to beep when you leave them open and get out of the truck. That will save me from a rain flood some day so I appreciate the warning Toyota!

I have a moon roof in my OR but only because it was already on the only available white truck at the time . I never use it . Just something else to worry about getting damaged or leaking . My wife used to think she had to have one on every car she owned until she had it open one day and a bird crapped on her. Now it stays closed.

We have had 2 Lincoln Navigators and a F150 King Ranch in the past 20 years that have had moonroofs. Its a definite requirement for us now. My wifes new Grand Cherokee Overland has one, and my 3 day old Tacoma has one too. Love them! In Florida we can utilize them 5-6 months of the year (Nov.-April).

in the summer I crack it backwards to let the heat dissipate. Not sure if it works but I've always believed it does because heat rises lol. I open the screen most of the time because I like the sunlight and it makes the cab feel more open. I used open it completely on the trails on occasion to stand up out of it to look around. Now that I have sliders I don't need to do that too much. Overall I like having it, and it's a nice bonus, but if I didn't have it I wouldn't fret. So my advice: Find a truck that matches all your other option desires and if the sunroof is available, great and if it doesn't, great.

I bought my DCSB specifically because it was a manual w/ the premium package. For me, the sunroof & leather/heated seats are a must. I always wanted a Tundra because they didn't always offer the amenities in the Tacomas without going limited.

I use mine every time I drive my truck. Without the moonroof screen open it feels too dark in the truck imo.

On those days when it's cool outside and I can open the sunroof and back sliding window and feel the breeze, it's almost as good as having a convertible. And on a cloudy day when it's dark inside the cabin, just slide the inside cover and brighten the interior. Many advantages to having this accessory.

Just in case you haven't test driven, I'd get in one with and one without just to see how much headroom you'll have with the moonroof. I'm 5/11 and my hair was touching the headliner during the test drive with moonroof. The test truck had cloth seats but the one I ordered has leather. I feel like I have a little more room in mine so it's ok, but the roof does feel a lot lower than ones without. I guess it's all personal preference so be sure you test drive both and get what makes you the most comfortable.

I really enjoy having a Sunroof in my Truck, open it as often as I can when the temp allows.

i insisted on a moonroof, but i also insisted on a Pro so you can't do both. i decided on the Pro. turns out the rear electric sliding glass is even better and i use it more than i would have used the moonroof... and i get more headroom also. win-win over here.

Its one of the reasons I did get a Pro..... but they are standard in the 2019 pro.
