X2 on the painting it and leaving the scoop black. I was thinking about getting a carbon fiber hood to go with my black n white theme but most people though it would look to ricey and I agreed so I just kept it white.;)

I was wondering what a black hood on silver would look like. I like it, but not sure Id leave it maybe for awhile. Has anyone seen a silver hood black scoop, might be interesting?

Paint it. Then after you're done, add some flare to it. Either a decal or pin strips to be different than the others. I'm still working on ideas for mine. I so know what you mean, but honestly the hood needs to be painted and soon if you are going to leave the untreated OEM hood on for looks. My fear is you'll ruin the finish before its painted.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
If you leave it black you should paint it with actual black paint. The finish on it now is probably some sort of primer/sealer versus a paint which means it'll eventually rust.

thanks man. hopefully leaving the black scoop insert, (looks as if the orig owner bought a BSP insert. it is actually painted black) will be enough to set me aside from the other silver scoops i see driving down the road.
awesome deal on CL. found a dude who bought it brand new(toyota hood and scoop slide/insert) let it sit boxed in his garage for 3 years and never had it installed or painted. he recently sold his truck and sold me this hood for a good price  everything was still in the original toyota factory packages. and i was gonna go with a certifit.. :)
the hood will be painted silver, the scoop insert is actually painted...i am guessing BSP. looks like the glossy black. Looking on TRDparts4u the scoop inserts come painted so now i am 99% sure the old owner had a BSP tacoma, or atleast ordered a BSP scoop insert.
    thanks man

It could look good in black, but IMO in order to get it done right you would have to paint the roof of the truck black also.... and that looks more like a race car... but it looks good though
