    Does he think old tacomas are cool? Or is that you? I'd think an older guy would enjoy a vehicle with a smoother ride, creature comforts, and maybe 4 doors for family. Not trying to put your idea down, just giving you something to think about.

    Sounds to me like he is a perfect candidate for an old civic or some kind of Honda car which will outlast the Tacoma by a million years

    I have 298,000 miles on my 2.7L Tacoma and it runs extremely well. If the frame is in good shape, and you don't mind replacing old sensors and parts, I would go for it. Also, as others said, make sure to check the entire driveline...and it sounds like one of your family members can do that.
