So I have a 2009 sport 4x4 that I bought new. Installed ICON coilovers with TC UCAs and rear shocks with 1.5" AAL at 4,000 miles and set to 2" lift to fit 285 tires. No off-road, but like the look. Replaced the rear shocks at about 90,000 miles due to leaking remote reservoir with bilstein 5100 extended travel shocks and added firestone riderite air bags (at 10-12 psi) and daystar craddles. Everything is still very solid but seems to be a harsher ride than I remember. No issue on highway but at slower speeds, the crappy roads in New England seem rough as hell. Tires are P rated AT's and have been since the truck was lifted. So original coilovers with 162,000 miles and rear shocks with about 72,000 miles currently. Also, not carrying armor, bumpers, shell or anything that would add weight besides the heavier than stock tires.

So the question is: Should I replace with softer spring and new coilovers (maybe a different brand (King or Fox) or have the ICON's rebuilt or is there another option. Don't really want or need remote resi but that seems to be the only option for King/Fox.

Depending on your budget you could just rebuild your current coilovers and change the springs as well. There's companies that can tune the coilover to your specific purpose as well.

How long to shocks typically last? I'm talking street use only.

For the front if II recal fox suggest theirs get rebuilt every 50k for 100% street. Don't know if that translates to icon, but either way, I'd say your do for one. I'm soon hitting up accutune off-road for mine, and getting a revalve, @*TRD* other than that, don't have any idea on your area. As for the rear, don't think you can rebuilt 5100s, but I'm not sure. Can measure your springs, but usually get softer with age. Hope that random info helps...

Your suspension is most likely (99% sure about this) in need of a rebuild or replacement. The ICON's definitely need it, and if you called them and asked they would tell you it needed it 30k miles ago if not more. Not sure about your fronts, but I can only assume based on my previous experiences with suspension, that it needs to be replaced or rebuilt if possible, but not sure that rebuilding is possible on those.

My $.02, if your coilovers aren't leaking, why spend the money to rebuild? Check the bushings/bearings and call it a day. Freight, parts, etc. will run you about $500. to have them done.
