To ScanGauge or not to ScanGauge?
Aye, that is the question! :goingcrazy:

I have used a ScanGauge in my previous vehicle for many years. I found it to be VERY helpful in tracking MPG (instantaneous, trip and tank), occasionally checking alternator output, and very useful in displaying (and later removing) CEL errors.

Now that I have a new Tacoma, I see that much of the info provided by the ScanGauge is available either on the dash display, or in the ECO section on the multimedia display.

So, other than displaying and removing CEL errors, what is your opinion or reason to install a ScanGauge in your truck? (I found it to be an occasional distraction, glancing down to see if all was well, while driving long distances).

... whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    the absence of a ScanGauge,
or to rely on the Tacoma display.
And by not installing: to keep the dash area cleaner,
and to avoid distractions, and to keep the diagnostic port unhindered.
Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.

(But Shakespeare did not have a Tacoma
    or a ScanGauge)

I've been using a ScanGauge on my '96 Tacoma for years. I don't see a need to transfer it over to my 2016, when it arrives. I will be using a WiFi OBDII dongle (with my iPhone and Torque app) to cover any errors/check engine lights and see engine readouts not available through the truck's default system. The rest of the info seems to be covered, as you say.

BYW, good try, but I think your iambic pentameter needs work.

Why would one want to track their gallons to a mile? As far as codes, a cheaper options will work just fine.
