Hey guys, I am about to do a hood swap in a few weeks and am very excited to swap out my standard hood for a scooped one. My truck is MGM in color. But what do you guys think of these hoods. Are there pros or cons to either one? Enlighten me.

Purely visual and personal preference. Both protect the engine from the worst of the elements.

Having had both, I like the looks of the scoop but that's strictly all it is. Also, keep in mind the sun glare on these scoops are pretty bad some times during certain times of the days. Other than the glare, go for it if you like the looks.

love the look of the scooped hood, had one on every taco I've owned.

if you like the look, do it! Then close the thread before all the retards enter, posting
about how the scoop & decals = HP!!

There's many cases of non scooped hoods coming apart from the under side bracing. I haven't heard any if it with scooped hoods... plus the looks lol.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I'm not a fan of the scoop.

But it's your truck and your money. If you like it, I'd say go for it.

lol, it's their coping mechanism for not having one ;)

the only negative I've read is from guys who wheel, they say it
is a bit of an obstruction when going up hill.

My brother and sister-in-law live on the other side of the country and were here visiting a month or so back, drove their '16 Sport with the skewp. My OR has the standard hood. I've never given it much thought on'e way or the other, realize it's a non-functional styling cue and nothing more, and am perfectly happy with the way mine looks but would probably be equally happy with the skewp.

Anyway, I never rode in my brother's truck, but one day during their visit we were engaged in a moving project (clearing out deceased parent's long-time home, getting it ready to sell) and they drove mine. My SIL remarked that she liked the fact mine did not have the skewp as she thought it imparied forward visibility. She's a farily tall woman, maybe 5'9". Maybe we should have traded hoods!

I have a sport hood on my OR, and while it does look goods there are a few drawbacks...1) The sun glare is unreal and is very very bad at certain times of day (golden hour). 2) You have significantly less visibility and loss of depth perception when trying to park, it is also especially bad if you off road at all.

I like it, but not enough to justify a trade ... which would make my truck insignificantly more difficult to wash.

Kinda surprised at the poll results so far... would have figured there'd be a lot of "non scoop" votes based on the commentary I've read on the scoop.

    Skewp is pretend performance.

If you go for it though, make sure to get a fake turbo and colorful silicone hoses with slick stainless clamps too so when you open the hood you look as legit as with it closed.

Add Yeti cooler stickers to complete the look.

For me, it's a matter of aesthetics. With the more vertical front on the 3rd gen the non-scooped hood seems to go on forever and ever. I personally like how the scoop breaks that up. YMMV, and that's okay with me...
