Long story short, went to my local Toyota dealer to pick up my wife’s Corolla from service. The used car manager came out looked at my 15 Tacoma and made a offer of $31,000.00 towards a new vehicle. Only 20,500 miles and paid off.
We have a long history with this dealer about 8 vehicles purchased here. I’m on the fence would love to get the Army green pro, 2nd choice Cement pro but not many Tacoma’s out there right now. These pro’s and con’s driving me nuts.

He's trying to make a sale, not make you a deal. So, what's best for you?

If you like your current truck, keep it. If you’d rather have a new one, get it.

Keep your truck. It might sound like the grass is greener on the other side, but you'll regret ever leaving your side of the yard.

    This is the answer.

If you want to let go of the money to upgrade to a new truck then do it! That's it.

I see your delima, paid off truck with very low mileage, vs new sweet ride but with a loan and both choices are nice ones. I personally would get the Army green pro. The salesman only wants to make his number, but 31 grand is a nice down payment. Good luck OP.

If you could get 31,000 for your trade, and the AG Pro for 43,000 or less that would be a good deal. Not sure if it would be worth it to get rid of your current truck.

Right, I saw two or three new SX trucks last week. This was near the same amount of dealers in different locations. I found that funny since I wanted to get one.

Well you left out the most important factor, "What is the difference in $$?? my thinking is keep your truck, its paid off, keep paying yourself a truck payment, in a couple of years sell yours yourself, & then purchase what you want. Trading in a relatively new, low millage vehicle, one that is paid for is really not a good idea jmop

The question is never how much they are willing to pay for your trade in

The question is always how much are they willing to pay for your trade in, how much the new vehicle will cost otd, the interest rate, loan term, monthly payment and total cost of financing. If you're sort of curious, get his card with the numbers written down and shoot him an email. Negotiate completely over email and post up on here the deets. Chances are, he won't respond after the first email. Hard to sell a vehicle when someone is sitting at home on a laptop that they can quickly research what is being sold to them. Much easier to sell a vehicle when you have someone either giddy like a schoolgirl driving the new truck around, or trapped in a small office chair in isolation.

    I’m with this guy ^^^^^^

Since he already knows what he is willing to give you.
He already knows, what he’s not going to give you on a new one.
As on, not going to “come off the price or add one”
Then again, you might get lucky. I never get lucky at the dealership on purchases.
Not unless I am in the parts department, my local guy in the parts department has helped me out in the past.
