Long time listener, first time caller...

I have a 2001 Tacoma 2.4 liter, 5-lug, Xtra Cab, automatic with 185K miles: sort of a car disguised as a truck. I acquired it a few years ago, and I have all the service records, and the engine has been well-maintained. I took it to a reputable mechanic for a once-over and they said nice things.

I don't drive that much, and when I do, it's usually on a trip or around town. For road trips, I would probably get a rental instead of this thing.

I'm trying to decide whether to keep it and fix it up or just sell it.
If I keep it, here are things:
    1. The seats are small, so I would probably switch them out. 60-40 to buckets so center console.
    2. Rear corner is dented, so body work, maybe new paint?
    3. New stereo, speakers & backup camera.
    4. Rear cab window fasteners are broken.
    5. Projector headlights.
    6. Seatbelts don't retract fully, so that fix I saw on a thread somewhere.

Is any of this even worth the time/energy? Am I kidding myself?

I feel like this would be a good truck for a landscaper or somebody who does maintenance around town. It's sort of wasted on me.

Open to your thoughts & opinions.

    Is it your only vehicle?
    If not, I’d sell it.

You say you do not drive it much.
You wouldn’t take it on a longer trip.
You would spend money on a vehicle “not used much”.
Pay money on it for insurance………

If you don’t need it, sell it.

Lots of people would enjoy some budget friendly transportation.

Just keep in mind you won't get stupid money for it like some folks think every Tacoma deserves. The 5 lug 2.4 with that mileage and some larger sounding dents really limits your buyer pool.

Personally if you need a light duty truck, keep it and use it as is. If you don't need it's function someone else will enjoy using it.
