Good one OP. I'm sitting around 20 MPG dining the same speed and distance.

If I wanted gas mileage I would have got a Corolla...If I wanted speed I would have got a Vette.

I wanted a truck. Got a Tacoma. I drive it like a Vette and expect a Corolla mileage. Am I expecting too much.o_O

I have found that for ever 5mph of wind, you change your mileage by 1mpg. Head wind or tail wind...its about the same. Side wind usually decreases the mileage too. You have turned around and driven the same route back during any mileage test.

well no shit, but like I said I don't like to drive like a grandma and I'm happy with the 17mpg I usually get, if I find myself bored on my next road trip with time to burn I'll humor you though :)

In the meantime lets see you get 27mpg over 80 miles if you're so confident ;)

Its not like I drove down an 80 mile hill lol.

I got 27.03 MPG on this fill. I don't remember why I typed a different number into fuelly, maybe the attendant topped off a little.

    Yeah- learn to drive.

Some of these 3rd gens first run have issues. My 6.2L Silverado just returned from a 1,100 mile hunting trip- 2 guys, all our gear, 3 bird dogs and their crap. 19mpg. My turd gen never saw better than 18mpg, EVER.

Hahahaha... I have this for trails-

This for hunting. 10 miles offroad on BLM land bird hunting NE Montana.

Cherokee gets the same MPG as my ex-turd gen.

Sounds like Toyota needs a lesson in engineering. A 6.2L motor gets same or better mpg than their '3.5'. Hahahaha.

Hi - I wanted to introduce myself, I was the guy behind you laying on the horn the entire time you did this experiment.

But really! This is cool, thanks for posting. I've gotten 20-21 for a tank a few times and have seen 22-23mpg (before having AT tires) once or twice.

I'm impressive indeed. My TRD OR AT 4x4 on stock tires (35psi) + a cab height camper shell gets 22mpg on flat ground with the cruise at 65 in 6th gear.

Are you sure your trip computer is set for US gallons, not Imperial gallons? Mine was set from the factory to imperial gallons and couldn't believe people were getting less than 20mpgs.

Based on manual calcs and fuelly- my mpg in the Tacoma was spot on. And my dealer and Toyota said it was 'normal operating characteristics'. Actually my dealer said "Oh- all Montana trucks get shitty mileage- it's the terrain and wind.

Bunch of horseshit. I traded it in after that trip to Ohio when we managed 14mpgs with two people and overnight luggage.

I've had the TRD offroad for a year now has 19300 miles and the best tank ever was 15.1 and that was on a perfect day.
Ive pulled boat to lake 8.6 mpg and on average is gonna be 13.7-14.5
Not sure if you sprinkled ferry dust on yours or you just have that special Unicorn. but its Not Normal. and I do KNOW HOW TO DRIVE.

    I get 19mpg - 80mi per day, 5 days a week...speeds of 75-80mph.

BTW I also have 285/75/16's...mileage was 21 before the tires were installed.
