I feel it has Enough power for the type of driving I do which is just around town or the highway. Don’t feel the need to add anymore

Exactly how I felt until I flashed my ECU. :)

Not sure what you mean about 'shared'. I know who created the file, where it came from, and what areas of the tune have been improved....and they are awesome. Now if I met someone and they said "hey I made this tune and it's awesome on my cousins truck" I admit I'd be moving on. However, when I personally know the source, the platform, the areas altered, and that there are thousands of trucks running the similar tune that addresses my stock issues well...yeah, sign me up.

The kick you get is from ACIS being activated. Intake cams are almost the the max limit at that point (~70°) .

But.. Atkinson "mode" on this engine actually retards intake valve timing to a point where some of the "charge air" is pushed out of the cylinder on the compression stroke..
The intake valves are closing "late".

I learned in the past never to mess with a vehicle that runs really well. Too many hands in the pot spoil the stew.

Basically spot on except that Mat developed octane learning tunes, wherein a range of octane will work without issue. Don't quote me, but regular tunes were something like 87-89, and premium were 90+ or something like that.

Shared files like KDmax, kruizer, umm and others. Not the OG OV tune files he made.

I’m not the best person to try to convince haha, honestly. Also part of the problem is that I know fuck all about actual tuning. I did flash my ECU myself and that’s as far as it goes.

When I was trying to understand what OV tune was doing through his graphs/3D maps, it was like gibberish to me. I would like to know more but it seems so complicated to me. I need someone to physically sit beside me and explain every single thing.

No worth it to try, if someone is happy with the stock tune I believe them. If they're not however there are options.

That's fair, we all have out own levels of comfort. As I dug in I understood more, asked more, learned more...and gravitated to offering and supporting KDMAX in the wild. I am just a daytime software dev so the tuning platform was a great way for me to do something with my truck I could see on screen and then translate to real world driving.....which is a bit if a geek moment honestly. To those other owners looking I would just encourage asking questions and finding their own 'level of comfort'. If that means trusting in a market offering that is continually improved and supported buy an amazing platform and established businesses then I am here :)

I expect your speed limiter is around 80 before fuel cut...which IMHO is fast enough to drive mind you. Welcome to the stock tune and 5.29s limiting your nightly news police chase.

Seriously though, when a tune factually smooths the throttle curve, makes the accel pedal "present" at all speeds, smooths out shift points, and provides the correct math for optimal shift points of that regeared truck you can imagine a driving experience that might be improved in ways that stock is just not optimal. Sure, stock is fine...it starts, it goes, nothing goes boom....but you regeared for an improvement....you put 33s on it for some kind of improvement. The checklist of everything in a tune is to provide improvements. If that was not the actual outcome then no one would ever get a tune. Everyone has different needs and values, neither of which negate that regearing doesn't help and that a KDMAX tune isn't awesome

It was a challenge just to flash my ECU… haha.

I’m definitely not a computer/software person at all. Huge thanks to @tonered for helping me out.
