From what I understand, if you flash back to stock both the ECU Calibration ID and the CVN revert to stock. Now I'm sure there is a way where someone with the right tools and expertise can dig into the ECU and look at checksums to see how many times the map has been changed, but I seriously doubt that is something a dealership will do. With anything resembling a computer there is always a trail, it's just a question how deep you have to dig to pick it up.

EDIT: All of this said, no reputable tuner should ever give you a 100% iron clad guaranty that their tune is completely undetectable. Slim odds yes, but not 100%. In most cases the juice just isn't worth the squeeze required to dig that information out unless there's a big dollar repair involved.

I can not speak to why the Tune works in these trucks but after my OTT tune, mine went from somewhat of a rolling turd to where it now accelerates and shifts like I feel it should. I am glad I did it early in my ownership. Thanks Paul from PNW Tuning for fitting me in to your busy schedule.

Wow, it took me a long time to reply to this...

Yeah, my Tuner never guaranteed "undetectability" of the OTT Tune...he just said, "if you aren't happy with tune, I can set it back to OEM."

He also said pretty much exactly what you said about an expert analysis, adding that the only way would be if Toyota sent one of their engineers from Japan to investigate activity.

    I love my OTT Tune!

A tuned truck is a better driving truck regardless of which tune you ultimately decide to go with. OTT, KDMax, Yotawerx, and a few others are all good solid tunes that will improve your driving experience. Obviously everyone feels their tune is the best, but no matter which ends up being your choice I doubt you will be sorry :)
