Do you guys let your trucks warm up in the morning before you drive off?Or do you slap it in the gear and disappear? I know back in the day engines needed to be warmed up due to different clearances in the engine but now that engines are more precisely made I don't know if letting it warm up is doing it more harm than good because of the fuel injection letting in more fuel to the combustion chamber while the engine is under operating temp and possibly causing the oil on cylinder walls to "clean" off prematurely. Any ideas??

so I think it's more of an oil issue now than a combustion issue (ECU can adjust the combustion mixture).......it typically takes between 30 and 60sec for the oil to fully cycle through the crankcase.

So I'd say let it warm up for at least a minute to get that oil circulating, summer or winter, and then you're god to go. That's what I do with my truck

I let mine warm up for a few minutes enough to make sure the oil is circulated and coating all the parts. 0w20 is pretty runny even in cold temps.

Now I also drive slowly until it heats up to operating temp (no hard acceleration etc.)

I let mine warm up every morning just because my ass gets cold easily and I have to work at 6am.

I usually let mine warm up until I hear the evap-system hiss sound. Usually takes about a minute.

No. Not necessary. Start and go. Drive conservative until temps are normal operating range.

People forget other parts also need to warm up. Driving conservative let’s the WHOLE truck warm up.

I just start mine up, buckle up, look around back up, put in drive and drive moderately for a few miles or until fully warm before I put the hammer down

And don't forget that all other vehicles components need to warm up like shocks, springs, rear end and such so you'll want to drive moderately.

    Cheers!

It all depends on how cold it is. Anything above +20° really doesn’t need more than a minute or two max.

I like to crank mine and floor it. The engine gets up to operating temperature much quicker when it’s bouncing off the rev limiter.

Yeah for sure, you get a little more launch speed with the starter motor still engaged as you peel out of the driveway.

This^^. Letting the cats warm up and letting the O2 sensors get to operating temperature is a safe bet. Also gets the oil flowing.

Mine gets 10-15 minutes when it gets below freezing.

I like to see the temp gauge move some before driving.

I let mine warm up until it comes off high idle and goes to a normal mixture of air and fuel. Not because of oil as it's viscosity is fine, and, my ass likes a warm cabin. Boom.

Start it, give it 30 seconds while you buckle up and find a good song on the radio, then drive gently until it's at operating temp.

    Doesn't matter if it's -30 or 140 degrees

Work with a guy who literall gets in his Tundra, starts it and then just goes. Doesn't even bother to wait. I just hear my dad in my head, "WTF ARE YOU DOING?!?!"

My routine goes like this.....clear enough snow to open door.....turn truck on....heat on to HI fan to top speed....seat heaters ON.... close door and clear the rest of the 24" of snow off of rest of truck....unfreeze the wipers....

Done.... put her in drive and go slowly...…… In the old days the nylon tires would be square....I'd be going down the road with the truck bouncing.

I still have to go 3-4 Kms to get any heat, but mu Butt is warm.....
