To help heat up your interior quicker use the PTC heater. You have a electric heating element in the heater core. It will come on when the engine is cold and stay on until the water temperature gets warm enough to heat the interior. In order for it to work these conditions must be met.
    -Engine running
    -blower fan "on"
    -Temp set to max hot
    -Engine coolant 65F or lower
    -Outside temp 50F or lower

This debate does not apply to Winterpeg'ers!

Plug in Block heater and oil pan heaters .... I've experienced that kind of cold and numbers can't convey it.

Minutes to live kind of cold

I have friends in northern Alberta that use a block heater, an oil pan heater, and a battery wrap heater to get their pickups to crank over in the morning. Now that's cold.

It's "only" -20°F. The whole colder than Mars bit makes me laugh, as it really depends on where on Mars we are talking about.

At one of the poles in winter? That's -220°F, cold enough for CO2 to freeze out of the air onto the ground. Impressive.

Summertime at the equator? 75°F, cold enough to only put 3 ice cubes in a gin and tonic, but not really a claim to fame being chillier than room temperature.

Always just let it warm up enough to get the oil circulated and idle to drop a bit. Then it's time to hit the road taking it easy until up to normal OT.

Perhaps out of habit for me, but with all my vehicles I've owned. I always let it warm up till the needle hits the bottom cold line marker.

To me, I know oil has spread throughout the engine. Typically it'll take about a minute.

Think another math lesson is needed. The scale equates at about -40. :tinfoilhat:
