Hope you find him, man. Sorry for your pain. I can't tell you how many times I've seen missing pets which have been found WEEKS after they've been lost and the crazy thing? All in the same small area in which they were lost. Stay positive, keep looking.

He's domesticated so after a while he will come to a human or at least show an interest in one. If the person takes him in and if they take him to a vet, the vets (well at least here in Cali) will scan him for the chip.

We lost an indoor only cat last year in Feb (she skittered between feet when someone opened the door to get the mail) and four months later we get a call. An older lady found her, and took her into the vet to get de wormed because she was so skinny. The vet scanned her and told the lady that they have to contact us. In the mean time, the vet made sure she was de wormed. I went to the lady's place, gave her a 200 dollar reward and paid her back for the de worming. Amazing how she survived. The lady only had her for three days.

We thought we would never see her again.

    Okay so small update:

We decided to give it another 24 hours before packing it in.

We drove 50 miles south to Ridgecrest and rented 5 humane traps. Put a dish of sardines and turkey breast in them with some water and some of our clothes as a familiar scent. We're waiting out the night to see if we can't catch him going for the food. This is our one and only shot, and we're taking it. Meanwhile, it's a waiting game...I'll post back with any other updates in the morning.

Thanks again for being there. I feel like you guys are right here with my family searching.

Good luck with the traps. In the mean time, if there are any vets or some kind of animal shelters/rescues in the area, maybe you can let them know what's going on so that if for some reason he ends up there, they can contact you. Animal control is another place...just in case something happens....that way they can contact you and you won't have to keep wondering.

Fingers still crossed, and hoping for a happy update tomorrow. I really really hope you find him right now, but with the chip there's still hope no matter what.

We have a feeling he's left the area, or hoping somebody picked him up. We're all in bad shape, very tired and getting sick so we have no choice but to head home. Absolutely none of the food was touched, we didnt see any paw prints, no eyes, nothing. And we were up all night. I'm sorry to say, but I think our search here is done for now. Thank you so much again for your help and resources.

Man, I really hope you get him back before you have to leave, they usually end up going in circles ending up back at he same place most of the time.

I too have 1 cat, hes a feral cat I adopted, sleeps at my feet every night, and I feel like hes my best friend, I would be pretty upset if I lost him too, sorry about your situation. Mine is a free-range cat, he comes and goes whenever, I am always scarred he is going to get hit by a car someday crossing the street since I live on a blind corner...:(

The fact that your cat came back once and left tells me he is probably still in the area and just got scarred so he is laying low, he is going to get really hungry and seek out food sooner or later that will overcome his fear, however you cant wait forever either.

I really hope you get your cat back, going to be really hard to leave without it...

Just got home without Ramsey. It's weird, and I keep seeing him all over the place for a split second...

Going to try and print a bunch of flyers tomorrow and head up there in the Taco. The RV couldn't take those dirt roads up there to those houses, but the Taco should have no problem. God, this sucks...been a very emotional day.
