tazer first, that didnt work, the dog might have been next, and then the kid goes to swing. the officer wasnt going to let the dog go and then start shooting and possibly shoot the dog.

you live in AZ, you should understand this. you do not shoot to injure or immobilize. you shoot to kill to prevent EXPENSIVE lawsuits.

    My take is this:

The suspect deserved to get shot. You dont try to kill another cop, and not expect to get shot.
Also, seems at least 1 shot missed, as a by stander was injured by glass from a miss.
AND....After being shot, another officer went to him, and Im sure vitals were checked. If there were sighns of life, the EMS would have been there much faster. WHy jepardize more lives rushing to a dead guy?

I personally have never seen a dog be of use in this type of situation, even though its right there, ALOT could have gone done in a second that the dog was sent on him, The cop that shot could have very well saved his partner's life today. The suspect knew what he was getting into, there really shouldn't be any sympathy felt for him IMO but everyone has their opinions, and Im glad you have yours. It would suck if everyone had the same opinion as I or many of the other members about this.

Just an FYI to those not in the know,
Deadly force is that force which a person uses to create a substantial risk of causing death or serious bodily harm.

serious bodily harm is deep cuts, lacerations, torn members of the body, and serious damage to internal or sensory organs. (i.e. a blow to the head with an object)

There's no need for it. It'll only makes the view of law enforcement worse. When a cop has to protect himself like that, the public view it negatively. He could have done this or that. If anyone else was put into that situation I'm sure most would have done the same thing. You only have a split second to react and then the whole world sits there and gets to tear you apart for it. Since there is video I guarantee that there will be a law suit to follow.

Chicken lights, chrome and smoke tunes.
Heres a comparison, If a big ass grizzly bear is running at you teeth, claws the whole 9 yards, what would your reaction be
    a) Act like Rosie O'donald and say "well we better not kill him because that would be immoral, hey yell and see if he stops"
    b) Shoot once and pray to God it falls
    c) Do what you have to do to stop that big SOB, in return saving your life.
