today went out to the truck and the starter wouldnt kick over

    well today i was getting in my 01 tacoma v6 pre, starter took a dump ,well I had to go to work so i took out my L bar and beat it ,it started so i went to work and bought the rebuild kit for it at toyota , i took it apart and rebuild it and put it back in the truck , now its good as new ,wooohooo ,

    But seriously, mine did that when it was cold. Replaced the plunger and it was perfect.

    LEER Shell with dome lights operated with 3 way switches, aux backup lights with relay and 3 position switch, modified wiring to compass/temp display and clock to include switch that disables dimming function (poor man's DRL solution), Scan Gauge 2
    Lots of people don't realize you can rebuild these starters for cheap. Good job!

    its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
    How hard was it to remove? It looks like a Pain in the ass to get out. How long it take to rebuild the solenoid.

    parts cost me 40 bucks baby !!, pretty easy to do , dont need car lift , first take off negative battery cable , go to right side fender wel and loosen 12 mm nut on side of starter , and then unclip the plug under starter ,crawl underneath truck by trans and u will see 2 14mm bolt and loosen and your done , when u rebuild ur starter you pretty much just change the copper contacts inside , take ur plunger you will see copper around it and sand it down till you see it shine

    o yea wen u get the starter loose you take it out from under truck not out the engine bay
