I’ve got dropping the 5 speed down to an art, but I’ve only dropped my 6 speed once so unfortunately I don’t have many good tips there.. but I think I’m gonna be doing that job pretty soon too unfortunately lol. I have a SPEC stage 2+ and a URD lightweight steel flywheel waiting to go in the 6 spd.

I used a trans jack like this and I think I had someone help me when it came time to stab the trans on. That is really a two person job imo, it’s too big and bulky to handle by yourself when trying to get it lined up perfect.89BCE32E-E8E1-4024-94D0-CB7ED64D09B2.jpg

Oh, forgot but this is one of your tips I believe Robert.

Make sure to position the jack closer to the transfer case because that's where the balance point is for the trans (with transfer case attached especially). If you center the jack on the trans, which is the obvious choice when you look at it, it just wants to tip backward.

I have a pic on the first page but my jack was roughly right under where the shifter is located.

Ahhh yes now that you mention that, i remember that issue. I had to reposition my jack after removing the trans crossmember to get it balanced better.

Thanks @BassAckwards and @TodayWasTHeDaY for the tips. They will definitely help. I have some ideas as well, this will be the 5th time I've taken my trans off :D

@TodayWasTHeDaY I have a couple of questions here, I think I finally figured out how I'm going to install my hand throttle. I've ultimately decided to have it as a push button off to the left side of the steering wheel, I have two blank switch bays there. Will be used for keeping the oil pressure up on hot days, and also hill starts (which I actually don't have much of, living on the prairies). Could potentially use it for burnouts too. Lol. Originally I wanted the button on the shifter but not only does it ruin the aesthetics, I think it would be unsafe to have a button there.

So my questions is, 1. where did you source the Party Time button, and do they have other buttons? 2. are those little switch blanks easy to get out? Like could I do that without removing the dash?

Ordered the switch from these guys. Lots of different switches and can customize (I ordered a bunch of switches for future use that I haven't used yet).

    https://www.ch4x4.com /

You'll have to unfasten the lower dash trim and pull it out (doesn't have to be completely removed).

You'll probably have to do the same with the upper dash parts but you only have to pry that corner out a little. The blanks aren't hard to pop out.

Not the best pics cause I nearly broke my ankle last week and truck is dirty AF and I forgot to take pics when truck was on lift but...full dual exhaust with two resonators, no cats (cause I cheaped out and people steal shit anyways), two Magnaflow mufflers of some sort, a x-pipe, one pipe out passenger side one out driver side. 2 1/2" piping. Followed @12TRDTacoma 's lead on this one.

Have to take logs and get retuned (have FIC injectors on the way as well) but haven't had time. Truck sounds way deeper and throttle response seems better. Noisier auto start so may piss off neighbors a bit in mornings but they all piss me off anyways. Overall noise level isn't too crazy and haven't noticed any drone. Pretty happy with it so far but some of the welds and fab work could have been better at the header end where the resonators are. Also may get some fancy tips but there was nothing available that wasn't completely obnoxious at the moment.

It'll happen at some point but I'm working at a remote location and might not be able to drive it for another week or two.

Those look sexy, simple and classy! Me like. I'd like to do black chrome if possible. Have to start online shopping for that.

    Sound clips for sure.

You are going to want to drive under the freeway overpasses if you can. The acoustics resonate enough in there to give you feedback sound of what the truck sounds like accurately. You'll love what it sounds like!

My boy is happy to see me after being away for work for 8 days. Crawling on my truck and turned into a great pic (even though the truck still needs a wash badly).

Couple of better pics and short sound clip of startup.

So far the sound is growing on me. Wifey hasn't noticed the completely different and slightly louder sound on startup hahaha. Throttle is more responsive, etc. Will do up a proper video at some point (need to find a good underpass and someone to film)

Just installed some CDT Audio Unity 8.0 PLUS 2” wideband drivers, replacing the stock tweeters, CL-69 SUBCF 6x9's with baffles, and U-500 Crossovers for the wideband speakers. Driven by the Joying head unit.

Very happy with the sound. The CL-69's provide a good thump and work more like a sub with this setup while the widebands take care of the mids and highs and are now positioned at a better listening level. Provides enough bass for my needs that I don't feel the need for an amp or dedicated subwoofer. Really happy with the sound quality.

Great stuff. The look is pretty badass.

I don't feel so bad about my welds now. Actually I do still, but eh. What can you do....

So I bought grille mesh to put in the front, I know you did a grille retrofit, how did you affix the new mesh I saw on YouTube a guy recommended automotive goop.

Mine screwed into the plastic. I personally don't think I'd trust "goop" but maybe it's like construction adhesive where it's next to permanent.

That'll be a sharp looking upgrade for your truck!

Cutting out the inner plastic parts is a bit of a pain in the arse.
