    5100's all around with the fronts set at 1.75" 1" readylift blocks in the back. antenna X shorty antenna. smittybilt step sides. MKW M19 satin black wheels 17x8.5 plasti dip'd front emblem and hood scoop.
    so im finally getting my 5100's installed tomorrow but im still on the fence for setting them at .85 or 1.75. just thought i would see if anyone with personal experience with either of these setups on stock springs, would like to tell me if they are happy or unhappy and their reasons.
    i'll be installing 265/70/17 duratracs on the stock wheels so im not really in need of much lift, just levelling.
    i do have the 4 leafs in the back from factory as well.

    I say if you have the TSB rear springs then lift the front to 1.75".....I believe that will level out the truck nicely.

    Agree, 1.75. I have a 2012 as well with 265/70/17's and originally set them at 2.5 and the front was too high. Set them at 1.75 and it's perfect now.

    hey jeff, how is the angle of your uca's and everything else with that setting?

    Thanks for your comments everyone. I know 1.75 will level, I just wanted to hear everyone's experience. I'm going to go with the 1.75 setting. I'll post pics when I'm done.

    something looks weird about your washer on the top of said coil?
    go out and grab the tp washer above the rubber see if you can move it?

    Holy shit! It and the rubber move. I knew I could hear some rattling but couldn't really figure out where it was coming from. The passenger side doesn't do that. What'd we do wrong?

    I'm thinking about doing the same to my 2012 TRD Sport! I'm running 265/70R17 BFG Mud-Terrain's!


    • How will setting the height at 1.75 effect alignment?
    • How often will I have to get an alignment done?
    • What about ride quality (compared to stock)?

    I really don't want to compromise alignment and/or ride quality just for the sake of 'leveling' the truck.

    Looks like maybe the nut just needs to be tightened more. You should tighten the main nut on the top until the rubber washer is almost the same size as the top metal washer. That is the rule of thumb I always use. There is a specific ft/lb specification of course, but that was the way I was taught, and it never was an issue doing it that way. I was a front end specialist for 10 years, btw, so I did a LOT of struts and shocks in that time.

    I installed mine 2 weeks ago at 1.75", and it is perfect for the 2012/2013 Sport models with the factory 4-leaf pack in the rear. The ride is great, and the truck is level.

    EDIT: Of course, today IS tomorrow, so you probably already have had this done at whatever setting you decided on...

    You'll have to get an alignment after you install the shocks, but then after that no more than normal. The ride is great, especially if you have a Sport or Off Road model.

    I'm about to go fix it in a couple of hours when I get off of work.. The nut is still tight, but that's probably because of the tension from the shock. I swear it was all tight when we did the install. At least I'll finally fix the rattling I've been hearing off & on!

    Yes, it will feel tight because it is a self locking type nut, as you know of course. Like I said, just tighten it until the rubber washer squishes up to the same diameter of the silver washer and you'll be good to go. :thumbsup:
