So I decided it was worth the trouble and expense of getting a new trim piece:

Why did you need a new trim piece?

Because of the height of the Cobra, I had removed too much material at the back of the trim piece for the Uniden to fit tight.

After seeing how they both fit, the Uniden works better. Just cut the back out and slam it in there. With the cobra, I had to shave down where the unit rested on the trim piece in the back.

It is fairly easy. Best advice I have is to trim and check fit and repeat. If you're careful, it'll fit fairly tight, won't need any hardware to hold it in.

Definitely been awhile. Finally got around to getting the gas can holder built. Local guy did it for materials and a favor. Still have to get it painted but plenty pleased with how it turned out.

    Tom.. how do you like the 4.56s with the 285s? I can't decide between 4.56 or 4.88. :notsure: 5 spd 3.4 BTW. 33 12.50s

Like it. I sit right around 3k RPMs at freeway speeds (65-75 mph) in 5th. I've been asked about 4.88 and have no idea but I haven't had the hankering to try. I'd rather get a crawl box for the offroading than regear.

I think 4.88s would probably be to much then with 33s...

    Anything new with the truck?

Naw. I have a bunch of parts to do all the u-joints, wheel bearings, and such. Need to find time to do install them. It'd be nice to tighten up the drivetrain a bit. Possibly get the transmission rebuilt as well.

Nice! Haven't seen ya on much.. was wondering if you were even still around. Think I'll just say F it and go 4.88s. The crawl control would be amazing. RPMs doing 70 would suck lol.

Been lurking mostly. Got the truck pretty much where I want it so I haven't been as active. I chime in every once in awhile if I can help someone.

I don't know if 4.88s would be that bad. Should be able to figure out where the RPMs would be using some math. Sure, I have the supercharger but that motor sure feels right at 3k. Probably feels right at home a little higher.

Did you replace any pulleys at some point Tom?

stock, just the A/C tensioner pulley. And the whole A/C compressor. I should have taken the mud caked up in the A/C tensioner pulley as a sign to look at the magnetic clutch assembly bearings. Ended up replacing the whole system as I think the heat from the bad magnetic clutch bearings ruined the compressor.

on the S/C, went with the URD 2.2" pulley. Tried Gadget's S/C tensioner pulley but went back to the stock TRD one as the URD is made of aluminium. Back of the belt will eat through it fast enough, I didn't want to bother.

Haven't replaced any of the other ones.

    Okay, cool. Thanks!

One or more bearings/pulleys on mine is going out. I know for sure one of them is the power steering. Think I may have at least one more trying to go out on me as well, just not sure which.

Only info I can find is for the idler pulley. All the other pulleys apparently can't be bought by themselves as far as I know...

You sure you don't just need to tighten or replace the belts? If the powering steering pulley is going out, it tells me the pump is.
