Tonered VF Tune. Highly recommended.

Big thanks @tonered for taking this truck to the next level! Got the flash tune done for my 17 manual trans today. It is now a totally different machine and I see why some folks changed their mind about wanting forced induction after the tune. Drivability just increased tremendously in literally just 5 minutes to flash the ECU. Well worth the money if anyone is on the fence. Biggest bang for the buck by far.

Biggest differences from stock below:

1. No more waiting for 3500 rpm for power. It’s available instantly. Any gear. The power is now linear and the 60 ftlb difference down low is very noticeable. More useable power under the curve means less downshifting just to get into the power curve. It makes driving this thing much more enjoyable.

2. Clutch seems to grab earlier. No more revving to get the truck rolling in first.

3. Transitions between shifts are quicker and smoother. Hard to explain but seems like there’s less rev hang or delay between shifts.

TSB’s were updated and some customizations were also done like changing half signal from 3 to 5 flashes, opening all doors with one remote click instead of two, turning off floor defrost when the climate control auto button is hit, etc. Little bonuses like these make all the difference.

Overall very happy with Tony’s tune. Highly recommended!

The magnuson supercharger is ordered along with a smaller pulley. ETA is 8 weeks. The long of it is this… I’ve owned this truck for a month and 8 weeks is too long to deal with the shitty OEM drivability.

Plan is to run this tune until the supercharger arrives. I will be getting a baseline dyno on this tune along with a URD Y pipe within the next two weeks. Hopefully @tonered and @mZiggy FI tune is ready to go by the time the supercharger gets here. If by chance it arrives earlier than expected will run the Magnuson base tune, get a baseline supercharger dyno, then swap the smaller pulley and dyno again with no tune adjustments. My suspicion is the Magnuson tune is conservative enough to accommodate 1-2 psi more boost. Once @tonered and @mZiggy ’s FI tune is flashed, dyno again and adjust.

 

I gotta remember that.
