Just an update. 500 miles on the tune. If anything it feels like the truck got more responsive. No more downshifting on the highway going 60+ on a slight incline just to maintain speed, (you stock Tacoma’s know exactly what I’m talking about). Of note, weather is colder which undoubtedly has some effect. Lost one mpg but that might be due to the heavy right foot. The truck is now very fun to drive. Anyone on the fence needs to pull the trigger on this tune ASAP. Only problem now is wet traction on an incline… and I just got these tires! Dammit! Torsen or Tru Trac make an LSD for this truck? Lol.

Baseline dyno next Friday on OVT 2.0. URD Y pipe will be installed on the dyno to see what gains if any. Truck is manual so pulls will be done in 4th gear starting at 2k to see all the OVT 2.0 down low torque in all its glory. Supercharger is in Oregon on a FedEx truck. Install will occur the day after the baseline dyno and y pipe. Then repeat dyno. Good times ahead!

The next chapter @tonered and @mZiggy

Good stuff! I'm glad that you are enjoying it.

Sadly, a bit playing around will hurt the MPGs. The Taco is a bit sensitive there.

I'm looking forward to you dyno numbers.

Just for the record, some shops will advise against 4th gear (even though it's 100:1 for 3GT) or not even agree to it because you'll get over 100mph. For example, the Tacoma will get to 110 I think it is and it's pulling some serious power, so it's a safety concern.

3rd gear pulls would be acceptable and not unsurprising

    In 4th, 110 on 32s is 5,200rpm. I saw 117 in 4th not on a dyno.

Redline on the tune is about 153mph.

Yeah.....that's quite a bit of speed and power...they may not want to allow it. Lol :notsure:

Is this specific to lifted trucks on oversized tires? We did 4th gear pulls in my GTR with 1250 whp. Shop didn’t seem the least bit concerned.

If they're not concerned and they've done it before with some real power, then I wouldn't be concerned either.

It's just a consideration I've observed and it always ends up coming down to what the shop personnel are comfortable with doing with their equipment.

Does this tune run on regular or premium gas?

Tony hooked me up with a tune for my MT back in May, he's super nice guy and the tune has defiantly been an improvement, I would recommend it too.

@tonered any word on when the VF Ultimate tune will be available?

    Check build thread!
On the topic of top speeds, I've (allegedly) had my truck up to 120mph. Shifted into 5th and that killed the momentum.

There was definitely more to give, but the Softopper wasn't happy.
