When you installed the 285’s on those factory Toyota wheels, did you have to do a cab mount chop or just trim the fender liner a bit? Thanks. (Got the same truck, with same wheels, roughly same lift) :)

I actually didn’t have to do anything to the truck itself. I had some custom spacers built that put the tire in that “sweet spot” where I wasn’t rubbing anything. I think it also helped that I had the aftermarket bumper up front too.

    Like, so many.
I wish they still made regular cabs. Great looking truck. Do the Jeep guys give you a hard time?

Good to know! Trying to debate on the 255/85r16 or the 285/75r16 with those same factory wheels that I also have. Love this thread though, almost exactly how I want mine!

    Thank you, I appreciate it.

I love how they look, the space is what drives me crazy. The Jeep guys give me so much crap and always say how I shouldn't have sold all my Jeeps. Once they see what/how it does off road they kinda shut up. Haha They were impressed I was able to do everything they were doing locked and on 35-37's.

I definitely love the look of the 285/75/16's. I remember now I tried to take the spacer off and put just the wheel/tire combo on and the side tread of the tire was rubbing the upper control arm. So if you went the 285/75/16, you would definitely have to get some sort of spacer.

Here are a few pics... just because.

First few are from my spur of the moment trip to Colorado a couple weeks ago. Completely forgot to share with you guys that I went out there. On the way out I felt a horrible vibration and just knew it was the u-joint in the driveshaft, so did a little Home Depot parking lot repair in Boulder and got back on the road.

I've got weird noises coming from up front. Hoping it is just a loose skid plate... but don't think I am going to be that lucky this time. I think the local group is having a work day this weekend, so I'll try to check it out then. :fingerscrossed:

Had a good day with some other Tacoma World members from around here. Still didn’t find the source of the noice. I’m thinking it’s the front driveshaft ujoint, but it didn’t seem bad.

Got a new front stock skid, and new winch fairlead.

Then had to show off Archive’s Shackle Flip.

So... long story semi-short. Tried to do a simple oil change yesterday. Took 5 hours and still couldn't get the oil filter off, tried every trick in the book even had two buddies come over and try. When draining the oil less than a quart came out (super concerning).. but thinking that was where the noise was coming from (had suspicions of it being engine related, but hoping I was wrong). Took it to the dealership today (since they were the ones who did the last oil change). Took them an hour, but they got it off. No more weird inconsistent vibrating clunking noise. I did take the mid skid off, so that could have also been the vibe problem, but as of now I think we are back in business.

She runs like a dream-ish. Haha

Sorry for the choppy post, just trying to get the main points out.

Had that happen on an old Jeep of mine, ended up having to hammer an old screwdriver through it to get it to turn lol.

Glad to hear she's running better!

Love that hitch in the bumper. A front license plate on a folding bracket would ideally hide it well.
