i was going to install the quick fist that I received yesterday but can't figure out how to remove the metal bracket that's in the rail system... the truck came with the cover installed already. Any help would be great! Thanks IMG_4388.jpgIMG_4389.jpg

Is that rusted circle on the outside a screw? Wonder if they just tapped it into the rail

Looks like a torx bit screw... If it's stripped you may have to just drill it out.

Drill out the screw and persuade it gently with a hammer towards the end of the rail if it doesn't slide freely on it's own.

That bracket is attached with an "allen" screw. A little PB blaster and the correct size allen wrench and it should come right out.

So I guess I don't need to put them in the rail slot, I was thinking maybe I'm the bed under the window? Now with drilling has anyone had to deal with rust? Living in Vermont the salt is nasty...

Fluid Film (basically sheep's wool juice) or just use stainless steel whenever available. Adding silicone on top (to seal) or just using a rust inhibitor like WD-40 will help...

Rust is going to happen if you live anywhere salty or moist or both. I'd be more concerned about the frame if I lived up there... Just keep an eye on things and be proactive whenever possible.

Also, don't forget to post up the "after" pics once the install/mod is done! Everyone likes pics ;)

same here..........set screw to hold bracket in place on rail. These 4 little brackets suck at keeping the cover in place on frwy/in wind.....I added tie down straps up front thru tonneau frame and a bed rail cleat, also in the middle where it had no brackets & left the clamp/bracket in place on rear section so it can be opened easier for access. Almost lost cover on frwy a couple of times where wind bumped clamp off the bracket up front. It doesn't move a bit now with strap/clamp in front, strap/cleat in middle & reg clamps out back.

thank you guys! I guess the rust on the end made it hard to tell if it was tapped in or not.. I'll have to find my Allen key set and hope I have the correct size. Then I'll install them! Don't have anything yet to attach to them though haha

Got the bracket off! Thanks guys! Now to figure out how to get the quick fist in the rail... Seems to large so guess I'll have to find a spacer to put in the rail and bolt the fist to it

I have brackets that mount into bedrails that the 4 quickfists are mounted to...........not sure but think the brackets came separate. Could be from one of the vendors here that make all the hood brackets for lights/antennas & tailgate brackets and such. Lemme see what I can scrounge up about this. All my hi lift jack and quick fist stuff fits under my tonneau.

    Here ya go.....link to vendor

pic like my setup from thread above - I just have tonneau instead of shell
